The best way to look at it is they are now gone. Focus on your next client and be positive. This whole situation turned into a mess. Keep working hard and sweep this under the rug!

I love this post, and boy have I been here before. I call these "Time Chewers"-- by the time you get paid, you could have sold 5 mobile homes and made the same paycheck... With more polite people! What brought me to this area of the posts is a situation from just last night. I was admonished by my client for over explaining. She asked me a series of intricate questions, but apparently did not care to have the information. Got bored with the answers I guess. Blah blah blah, she is upset because the seller of the "perfect home" does not see why they should sell for dramatically less just because she needs to afford granite counter tops and wood floors. On the flip side, they do not understand why she is offering less, ( 1980's appliances, groovy colors, and bizarre crystal chandileers) when they need more money to buy their next home ( already picked out.) The bottom line is that we made a low offer in this market, they responded after a week with a counter offer that could have been formulated in about 4 minutes. Ridiculous. So, I sit here asking myself why am I not getting along with this buyer? She is a referral. Etc. The bottom line is that she is super high maintenance and very emotional. Although we don't run the roads looking at tons of homes, the email and phone time is a time chewer. I know after all these years in the business, some people will never close. They will blame it on everything except themselves.
Regarding the topic of the original post. They need to call Dr. Laura and get serious about their lives. If they cannot be adults and decide where their family and children will live without kid opinions, they need to give up! Oh yeah, and get like, MARRIED! They are not going to be good buyers. My ears go up when I hear a client say they are uncommitted to their family, yet we are about to do a $300,000 financial transaction. It spells trouble from the get go. We cannot pick up every starfish...

REStreet- I am the OP of this thread- and I am still annoyed at their behavior. The couple had a wedding date set of 01-02-09 and I really wonder if they actually made it down the aisle, let alone actually purchase a home!
I am glad to see that everyone has equally annoying people to deal with. I hate feeling so jaded about buyers- I am having a hard time converting floor and sign calls anymore because I never believe anything people say because I am so used to time-waster liars. I used to be the QUEEN of converting cold leads into clients, and now that I am so busy with my REO listings I don't have the time or the patience to babysit and coddle the liars to find the rare gem of a client who is actually telling the truth- that they ARE prequalified, and they are NOT already working with an agent, yada yada yada. I told myself at the begining of this year I was going to work my sign/internet leads harder so I can double-end more of my properties. Right out of the gate I am already struggling to trust people....

I have wrestled with trying those for several years now- I haven't had the guts to try it yet. The day is coming though- I can feel it. Thanks REODayton- you always have good advice.

Sometimes we should not over think this. You are probably so much better off without the client. If the process had been any longer the client might have made things harder on you like getting out of a purchase agreement.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
