Oh, then you wouldn't want to come here. We have all kinds of streets named after Gun this, Rifle that, Shooting here, Dead Man there, with a Grave something or the other thrown in for good measure.
On the lighter side, I found a set of streets today - Howlin' Wolf, Stevie Ray, Muddy Waters. All before my time, but I got the gist...

Aptly named are the following:
Keep Out Drive;
Holy Moly Road; and
Vertical Mile Road.
I don't know if they're funny; but they do intimidate some Prospects.
Pot Luck Farm Road is where the ATF, DEA and US Marshalls had a Gigantic Hydroponic Marijuana Bust, as shown on Unsolved Mysteries.

I had a listing on Smelly Lane. I wanted to laugh, but when I read the owner info, I realized it was family name.

I live in a very modest area that actually was where Annie Oakley taught other women visiting from the Northeast how to shoot, targets - skeet - etc. when they were vacationing at the Pinehurst Resort, a few years back Our main road is Gun Club, and of course we have Remington and Winchester too. The funny part is just how things have changed, I can just see some of our Country Club Women and Church Ladies shooting skeet. FYI - the exact place where Annie use to hold these events is now part of the Pinehurst #8 course, also known as the Pinehurst Centennial Course.

We have a street here in Riverside called Wong Way. Another nearby is called Back Street and it's the back entrance to one of the post offices. I did a trashout in San Diego on a street called Kimberly Lane, which is my sister's first & middle name. So, of course, I had to get a photo and send it to her. Linda

There's one near me called Hogshead Rd, about 1/4 mile from Dog Alley. There's a subdivision near here with Crooked Stick Dr and Winged Foot Dr.

How about a whole subdivision called Schoolhouse off of School Street and all the street names are school related:
Playground Chalkboard Jump Rope Eraser Pencil Dodge Ball Principal (previously incorrectly spelled as Principle)
There's more, just can't remember all of them. I used to help market the sub when it was new. I asked the developer how they came up with the name of the sub and street names. It was joke over martinis and they submitted it to the city and it was approved.
I suggested Basketball Court, Detention Street, but it was too late.
I still think it is really corny!

We have a small town called Ono. The only business is the Oh Yes tavern.
In one area we have My Way Drive and the next street is REO Dr(They are both mobile home parks).
There's a neighborhood in suburban West Palm Beach that has the following streets: Rainbow, Pot O Gold, Dream, Faith, Success and Happiness
Who'd a thunk it!!

My Godmother lives on Paradise Dr, which intesects with Easy St. Just up the road is the 'Sun' streets - Sun Ct, Sunfish, Sundew, Sunray, Sunflower, Sunset, Sunrise, and Sunbeam. Over in the older part of town is Pestalozzi, Zbinden, and Zschokke.

We have TickleNaked Pond Road which leads to . . . . you guessed it; out to Tickle Naked Pond. But it doesn't have a Nudist Colony any more.
The only Nudist Colony around here now is out at Lake Willoughby, where we schedule plenty of "showings" in the Summer. When it's -40°F, not so much !

I am on my way to 10413 BUFFAPPLE DR.
I guess it is a cross between a buffalo and an apple. Or this is the action you do with an apple prior to eating it. Or it is a strong apple.

I won this contest last year. In Port Jefferson Station NY we have a tobacco section. Marlboro Dr, Winston Lane, Newport Drive, Viceroy Place, Kent Rd and Salem Rd, probably planned in 1960. What the hell were they thinking about. Maybe the planners got tobacco cash for free advertising

I don't know if this will qualify, but these streets are in suburban West Palm Beach -- Faith, Dream, Happiness, Success, Rainbow and Pot O Gold
By themselves, nothing special, but together they're trying to tell a story.
In the area of Forest Hill Blvd and Kirk Road

Holey Moley Road; and Keep Out Lane seem to fit.
I just noticed last week that someone stole the sign off Keep Out Lane.
We also have Nudist Camp Road and Tickle Naked Pond Road.
Just putting Tickle Naked Pond down reminds me that we probably have a thread on this already.
PS: Nope, this is the same thread, re-awakened after a nine month slumber.

PA Roadkill, I have to look for those next time I'm out there. They're right off Kirk just north of FHB. There's also 2 Easy streets in the area. One is off Summit just west of I-95 and the other is off Prosperity Farms Rd just south of PGA. Come to think of it, Prosperity Farms is kind of an odd name for a street

Can't resist adding to this list.
In an Atlanta area neighborhood: Hemming Way.
Even funnier when you realize it could have two meanings, as it runs off of Paisley and intersects with Singer. BP

I had an asset earlier this year in HI on Puunani Dr.... think about it.
Also there is an area around Austin Tx called Tahitian village with all Hawaiian names like Keanahanalulu I thought was kind of odd.

There's a town near me where the main street through town is Broad. Nothing wrong with that. Except every street coming off of it or that intersects it are women's names. Like Ethel, Alice, Ester, Sue,

Not a street, but funny nonetheless...
The Amigone Funeral Home (pronounced Am-I-Gone) next door to the Gezuar Cemetary (pronounced Yes-You-Are).
Oh my Goshhhhhh

Owner: PEOPLE ETH TRTMT ANIM (PETA)
It is an owner name, not a street name, but PETA sold this comp which might go in a BPO I am doing in Norfolk, where the organization is headquartered.

This is off topic but, PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals. No offense to the vegans out there. I had a Vegan friend once who said that she never ate anything that had been alive. So I reminded her that the onion on her salad had not only been alive but still was alive. I said she was just lazy. She only ate living things that could not run away. It took her about a month to forgive me. Hope I don't ruffle any feathers with this. (please not pun completely intentional and intended)

Assawoman and Onancock
The there is Temperanceville.
Check it out on a map sometime. Funny stuff.

Hey Ryan, get the story right, please.
You have to drive through Bird-In-Hand to get to Intercourse. And if you take a wrong turn, you wind up in Blue Ball....
And if you think the place names are funny, wait till somebody posts the street names....

Punta Gorda, FL. Roughly translated it means "Fat Point" it is due to it's shape and the way it juts into Charlotte Harbor.
Charlotte county also has a street call "Burnt Store Road". You guessed it. From many years ago when there were few roads and fewer stores the one on this road Burnt to the ground.
Edited by Grampa (01/09/10 10:01 AM) Edit Reason: Added Road

Romancoke Avenue
I think it is a big name in Maryland, but this is in rural VA.
I think some builder named it after his wife asked him what he drank at the bar. 'Juss a few, huup, romancokes Dear.'

R on Templeton to L on Hair Rd
That is one styling intersection. I'll have to buzz on over and check it out. I'll comb through the map book to see if I can find it. If I do I will let you know.

Zzyzx Rd. located off I-15 Mojave Desert, near Baker,California and about 80 miles from the Ca/Nevada state line. Its claim to fame is being the last word in the English language.

There is only 1 house on that street. So the owner probably gave it that name so people won't drive down it.

I never laughed so much. Every time I drive by it, I crack up. Who comes up with these names? :P Ah, a mangrove is a kind of tree. Maybe those trees are near this road and that's how it got the name? What do you think?

Mangrove is a type of foliage type tree which grows in swamps and is vital to the eco system.

Came upon these two yesterday while in an area I never visited before:
Caution Drive and Affection Drive
Guess you should try to use both

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
