Isn't it a little extreme to have to wait 15 minutes between posts, what if you want to respond to someones response and may have a couple things I wish to respond to myself that someone else has posted, makes me forget about posting it and just go elsewhere. Is that needed, couldn't it be a little shorter?

*The actual wait time is 300 seconds between posts for new members except in the Introductions forum where the wait is 900 seconds.

I believe the wait time is due to those who come in here just to spam the boards. If a spam post is caught and reported within that 15 minutes, then there's enough time for the moderators & administrators to remove the post and get rid of or ban the spammer.

I have a small business forum and have not set up too many rules but I've logged in some mornings to find over 1,000 posts that I had to delete because of some jerk who decides it's a fun thing to do.

So I'm thinking that's why new members have the wait time. Once you've reached a certain number of posts and everyone knows you're not here to spam, the restriction goes away.

I struggle with it too, but just hang out and you will be there soon enough. I am actually only at 27.

This wait thing is driving me batty too. At what post count does it go away? It is like being dropped into a room full of people and only being able to talk every 10 minutes! ERRR!!

Sorry, but the spammers have made it necessary for the administrator to be pretty tough to start out. You also must wait until you post several times before you can post a link, as well.

Its actually an excellent policy IMO. Otherwise, you'd have spambots come rolling in - and throw 3 or 4 posts/responses on every folder/thread in here.

I was on this forum 1 year before I ever chatted...use it as a resource...the info here is available...for those that search...

Posting every 15 minutes making think what are you going to say. In addtion, gives you time to read. Glad others has posted their fustration. So I am not the only one.

Take note hildy..this was done after much consideration. Do you have anything to contribute every 15 mins?

MAIN STREET AND EQUI- Just dropped both companies, this is the 2nd time I did a bpo for Main got it all finished, saved and ready to go except pictures and it disappeared-told them if they wanted me to do it again, pay me again! Same thing happened with
Equi-but they have now emailed me saying they are going with a whole new program. Don't know if any one else has dad these problems but just a word of warning.

It is a little frustrating though. I see the need for limiting first time users, but why not use captcha or something?

I'll go ahead and agree with this as well, w/in the 1st 5 minutes of me being on the forum, I'm frustrated! I finally signed on, and have 10 windows open that I want to post questions in or respond to.. yet I'm stuck.. I guess I should just set an alarm for every 15minutes! Some times it says 300seconds?
On top of that I can't make an intro thread yet!

Maybe someone with appropriate credentials could correct the title of this Thread to read "900 SECONDS". It's been mis-stated and tolerated for too long. 900 Minutes would be 15 hours! Like so many wrong thoughts on this planet . . . . if you repeat them often enough and long enough, they will take on the appearance of truth.
