I'm in the process of selling a medium sized business. I'm curious if anyone here specializes in this area and how they promote themselves to business owners. I have the feeling it will require as much time and energy as selling a multi-unit property. Lots of paperwork and approval of doc's.

It may even require more work to sell a business than to sell a multi-unit. You have to know who you are targeting and you need to know how to market your business.

I already have the buyer and we're negotiating the offer. There are only a few agents in my city that sell businesses. You do have to target and market the business well. I know that some agents are BBN affiliates and use a business MLS nationwide. In one case, my wife was attending Massage therapy school and I was shocked to find out a massage business for sale had never been promoted to their placement department. So I promoted it to find a buyer that was graduating. No luck yet, but it was surprising the listing agent had not called around to massage schools as one avenue in marketing.
