I decided to go forward & sign up for BPO's. I was reading some of your posts & some of you have been doing them for a very long time! How many companies did you sign up for when you first started? Should I sign up with a couple & get the feel for it? My DH was an appraiser & I use to help him out so I am familiar w/the process & I am sure he will help me. I had been putting this off but my market is down the creek! Foreclosures keep rising in my area, everyday there is more.

Thanks.

I would say since you are asking such a foolish question, and not done your research, I would say to stay away from BPOs and foreclosures.

Zoila - Welcome - as you have been around for a while in the biz and boards - I know you can take a little heat.

Truly - read the sticky threads and then read the threads completely on each company you are interested in - it will take a few days of effort but you will gain valuable insight and information.

It's Monday - Which isn't some peoples best day, LOL.

Don't worry - as you read you'll see you've been treated just like the rest of us - enjoy your reading and see you back here in a couple of weeks.

I have been doing them for over 5 years. I was doing them when no one else in my area was doing them because they were 'beneath them'. I started with just a couple to get a feel for it and then another company would call my office begging for someone. The broker would hand them off to me.

So I would start with a couple of companies and then go from there. I will say it will take time. This isnt going to happen overnight for you. Just stay diligent.

Good Luck!

Ursula

When I first started I would sign up for as many companies as I could. After a while I would try to sign up for at least a few a day until they started to roll in the door and I just didn't have as much time to sign up!

Good luck!

When I first started, I signed up with maybe 3 companies just to see if I liked it. Of course, I liked the extra money coming in, so I began to sign up for more. I have a few REOs, now, but still prefer doing BPOs and listing fair market homes. I like working with real people, too! :)

I took a break from real estate for 2 years and now decided to jump back in. (my wife thinks im crazy because of the timing.) It's been about 5 months now and i'm almost up and running. I just started the bpo's again last month and I'm up and running with 4 companies. I got lucky and fell in some reo's and now i'm trying to build on that. Your in Florida so I have no problem sending you the list I used to sign up if you pm me. I know how it is to try and start in this part of the business and it's not easy, especially now. The thing that has worked for me most is persistence and a good work ethic. (besides a whole lot of luck)
