INSPECT YOUR ROOF BEFORE WINTER

Winter is here and it if there is not any snow on your roof right now, it is a great time to look things over or hire someone to inspect your home for you. You'll want to make sure all your shingles are secure and not torn from any wind damage or blown off.

Once the snow does start to fall and sit on your roof, you want to make sure your current roof can handle the load. The last thing you want is it to cave in or produce leaks inside the house.

Find yourself an educated inspector to look at your entire house and make sure everything is okay before the snow really starts. Whether you are a new homeowner or your home is older and hasn't been inspected for awhile, it is a good idea to have it inspected.

In light of the holidays, make sure it is secured to hold Santa's sleigh and reindeer!

Most Homes Inspectors are not engineers and should not tell you what your load values are - even if they know.

What are the "Standards of Practice" in Colorado for inspecting roofs for HI's?
I've never seen any, except for the ASHI, NACHI etc. definitions. Wouldn't a roofer be better?

Is it a big deal to not inspect the roof in great details in the winter if snow is on top?

I figure if there are leaks, you'll probably have moisture in the house, right??
