Thieves are making off with or destroying A/C units, water systems and pool pumps right and left. We install security cages over equipment allows for servicing and removal if necessary but is visible from the road. Can not be easily removed or destroyed. Interior security upgrades also thieves can take all appliances in a matter of minutes if not protected. Entry into properties is a breeze and usually requires no tools.

Place a link or picture of this device will you? Unless cinch anchorage or expoxy anchor glue-ins are made into conc pad, how does this work?

I apologize but,

#1 I believed that the intent of this forum is to provide a resource for those doing this type of work.

#2 I was directed to this thread by another member who believed I was attempting to advertise when in fact I was attempting to obtain input from other members. This member advised me to put my information on this thread.

#3 There are numerous posts where agents are having significant difficulty in locating preservation companies who do work right the first time.

I spent considerable time reviewing this forum prior to posting. I am not attempting to get away with something. I apparently misunderstood not only the intent of this forum but the numerous other posts which contain nothing other than pure advertising.

We use cinch anchors into the pad. For the a/c unit there are either 16 or 20. For softeners there are 12. We believe that no thief will be willing to take the time to remove 16 or 20 1/4" nuts. I do have a picture on my site at www.jndpropertymaintenance.com

JND ~

What do you think of replacing the regular screws on condensing units with one-way sheet metal screws? There are about 30 per unit on the newer models.

Wouldn't that also deter those who don't want to take the time to remove them? It seems like it would frustrate those who stick a standard screwdriver in just to have the screwdriver slip back out when turned in the reverse direction.

Thankfully, most water heaters and softeners are in the house and/or garage, which is usually a deterrent in itself.

What are your thoughts?

Linda

I believe if they dont see protection from the street they will attempt to disassemble the unit. Alot of the time we are seeing the cover pried apart as they are not removing any screws but with a normal pry bar they can tear the sheetmetal and allow the access to the copper. There are many other cases where the entire unit is being removed from the pad as usually if they are bolted to the pad it is two 1" small screws on removable tabs. We really believe that they determine from the road which ones to take and any visable protection causes them to move down the road.
