I am looking for ideas on how to approach the relocation market to assist people in relocating to our area. I know the area very well and have experience in other areas of real estate. However, I am new to sales and have not yet built up a referral list. What is the best way to promote my services with companies in my area?

Any help would be appreciated including but not limited to what to say to gain their confidence and give me a chance.

Thanks so much,
Sweet Sabrina

The best place for relocation leads is through your website. Focus on SEO and getting in the top 10 positions on google and anytime someone is looking to move to your area via the web they will find you. We have been getting a ton of leads that way for people looking to move to Sonoma County,CA

I would suggest you talk to your broker and see if there is anyone in your office that is a "relocation expert."

Agreed. Your office broker or manager should be good place to start. I had good Relo training when I first started out in RE but that specialty did't excite me much. There was a Relo queen in my office that really built up quite a business for herself doing relos.

You will have to work the non-relocation company side for a while. 99% of them have stringent experience requirements and want you to have a mix of past buyer/seller experience and current listings.

Don't let that discourage you from seeking relocating buyers/sellers who aren't employing a service. Work on that for 2-3 years, then apply to the relocation companies.

Many big brokerages have national relocation groups. The one that I'm with allows us to register with them any contacts that we make at companies. Then the relocation group goes in and tries to close the deal to handle all of the company's relocations. If they get the deal then we get a commission for anyone who moves with that company through any agent in our national brokerage.
That's a lot to try to spill out in a little paragraph. Hope it helps.

You need to make contact with the local HR person for the Company. When I learned that my Wifes company was transferring alot of jobs to other states I contacted the local HR person.

She allowed me to put together packets and present them at the career fair (for lack of a better term) to talk with the effected employees. She also put me in touch with the RELO Coordnator for the company. Unfortunatly they already had a Company in place.
