I am a RE Broker don't deal much with property managment, I recently move to NC due to company change. Things are not working out, I rented a unit at the last min. with a 12mth lease. I have been here 4mth and I am going back to SC to head up the company I worked for there. Is there any loop holes to breaking a lease? I have approached the PM and they said they would allow me to break only if I would cover the rent until the unit rented, this puts me in a bad spot as I need to leave in the next 30-45 days, and I am not willing to pay for the unoccupied unit. Can they file a lien against my credit for the remainder of the lease if I just leave and let them keep my deposit?
