I wrote this post this morning on my personal blog, inspired by an interview with voters in Harlem who support Obama - but they don't know his policies from McCain's. Visit my blog to hear the audio file. Some of them think Sarah Palin is Obama's running mate!

What bothers me is that there are voters out there, on both sides, who have no clue why they are supporting their candidate - they just "are."

This isn't a McCain vs. Obama, black vs. white, repub vs. dem, conservative vs. liberal issue.

It's a basic common sense issue. How many voters are there going to be on Election Day who have NO clue WHY they are voting for their candidate - they just ARE, because he's white or black, liberal or conservative, young or old, charismatic or a war hero?

I know whom I'm vot voting for. I won't even tell my wife, Why? It's my right as a citizen of the USA to go into the box and vote in secret. Its the one place I have privacy.

I agree many thin that Obama and Palin are mates. What the media does (espicially the Sean Hannity and Rush listeners) is take sound bites and from rallies that they play.

The system is set up to elect our leader. They run and there is only one winner. Many electors have no commen sense or idea. It takes a person to show them a way and bring them into the system.

It is a McCain vs Obama: As both say there are fundimental differance between the two.
1. Health care
2. The war
3. The economy
4. Nominations to the Supreme Cout

Vote Obama and life will be good and return to normal!

I realize that the point of the interview soundbite was McCain vs. Obama and to make people think that more folks are interested in McCain's policies vs. Obama's...

- I should have clarified - MY concern and the point of my post was that people didn't know that they were being asked about policies that were not Obama's, but they thought they were!

I've probably got over a doz. reasons that I AM voting for one set of candidates and almost two doz. reasons why I am NOT voting for the other set of candidates. But at least I DO have conscious reasons.

I'm a registered republican and I early voted today for Obama. I don't like McCain's plan to deal with the mortgage crisis. As a real estate agent that is the issue that affects my everyday life the most.

I will be considering the candidates position on a number of issues beyond how their plans effect my business.

I kind of would have liked to have had Hillary as a choice instead of Obama. Sadly I think a lot of people would rather have a man(regardless of skin color) as President then a woman. With only having the current two candidates to chose from I would have to go with the lessor of two evils. Obama just has to many bad past and current associations with people/groups. And the more I research and read about his views and proposals for this country. The more I am worried about what direction we as a notion might be headed. To many unknowns with Obama to let him be head honcho.

Nothing against the possibility of a woman as president (many other nations have had very good female leaders), but as a New Yorker I am very glad that Hillary was not the nominee. Frankly I wish she would go back to Arkansas but she is too well known there to do that.

Don't tell anyone; but . . . .

I just finished my voting by Absentee for Bob Barr for President - Libertarian. I have absolutely NO FAITH in either of the Major Parties being able to solve our current problems at the National Level. We're just casting about like an enormous ship without a Rudder.

I voted for Peter Welch as our ONLY U.S. Rep. He appears on the Ballot as BOTH a Democrat and a Republican (we have so few people, they have to do double duty). Vermont is the only place I've ever lived where if a Major Party doesn't run its own Candidate, they may endorse the opposing Party's Person ! How cool is that ?

I voted for Douglas as our Gov - He's a Republican. In our Bi-Cameral State, both the House and the Senate are controlled by the Dems. Douglas is the only sane one down there.

No US Senators are running for re-election in Vermont - we already have a Socialist in Sanders and a Democrat in Leahy. I guess we just "Spread the Wealth Around."

I wasn't going to bother Voting; but my Wife had picked up the Ballots so we felt obliged to use them. If we go in person, it's 45 Miles Round trip.

I hope I made a difference ! Putting this in writing confirms, for me at least, how bizarre (or maybe even goofey) the process is "here". I'm sure everyplace has its own idiosyncrasies. I hope the rest of you can do a good job for US on Tuesday.

Ok, I think I am going to add my two cents in on this thread.

My problem with this year's election is that there will be a good percentage of people voting for one of the parties for ONLY one reason! Many people are going to vote for Obama JUST because he is black. Many people are going to vote for McCain JUST because he is white. This is a terrible way to vote and it will definitely screw up our country's election process!

The issue is that many of these people have no idea WHY they are voting for that party. I definitely think it is extremely ignorant and it will hurt our government.

In my opinion, I know who the lesser of the two evils is. I guess we'll see how everything ends up with Obama's birth certificate issue.
