I need your help! I am not the most creative person, but I am trying to come up with a catchy slogan or phrase in my self-branding. Since I share a last name with the British Secret Agent I wanted to use it somehow..... (Bond :))

Thinking.... " a name you can trust" or " Your "Special Agent" in Real Estate"...omg I am horrible at this...help!

A catchy name is somewhat corny and outdated, IMHO...

Here are a couple relevant definitions of "Bond" from dictionary.com.

Something, as an agreement or friendship that unites individuals or peoples into a group; covenant

Something that binds a person or persons to a certain circumstance or line of behavior: the bond of matrimony

Binding security; firm assurance: My word is my bond.

So how about something like, "I’ll be with from the start, through closing and beyond - Guaranteed" I wouldn't get too cheezy in the climate that we're in.

I have to agree. Let people remember you because of your smile, your confidence, and your professionalism rather than some cheesy line.

you dont need a catchy slogan, you need to ask someone if htey want to sell. if so set up a time for an interview.

It always blows my mind that agents focus on these things.

Potential clients do not really care about cheesy lines.

What they care about is GUARANTEES.This is what every agent is scared to make.Talk is cheap.Instead performance guarantees say you will put in writing your promises and be held accountable.

Your card need to have a strong unique selling proposition that others do not offer. This way when they are thinking of selling and have 5 cards yours will be DIFFERENT.

It's funny I get postcards, magnets, and all that crap bi-weekly and I say to myself there was another sucker agent and sure enough it stops after about a month.

See many agents taking overpriced listings, blowing a bunch of money, and getting squat.

Helping one right now navigate a short sale on there primary residence.

Don't focus on the cards there are so many other things that could bring you more business right now.

The first agent I ever met sold us our house. Her name was Rayea. She had a slogon of "Your Rayea sunshine". Corney maybe, but I have never forgotten her slogan and prior to entering Real Estate we referred alot of clients to her.

With Bond I think I would look to the meaning of bond as opposed to the Agent Bond.

How about this:

No cheesy slogans, just results!

or something like that.

my old boss used to have "you've tried the rest now try the best" and it was really really really really LAME, CLICHE, and TACKY!

Thanks for all your replies!

I know that a catchy slogan/phrase/nickname is not going to generate a million dollars in sales. But almost every company - from RE to Banks, Clothing lines to car dealers - has a memorable slogan or phrase associated with it. I dont want anything cheesy or tacky, but association and standing apart from the crowd is what counts.

I agree that you have to be careful with slogans and I wouldn't personally use one, but if I was thinking about the Secret agent concept it would be NOT A SECRET AGENT I don't think the sound of "Secret" Agency would inspire any confidence.

What about using Bond with the meaning of the bond you will develop with your clients?

I wouldn't use something cheesy, but a very short tag line that sticks in people's minds is a good thing to me. Something that simply states you are different, special, the go to person for real estate in your market.

Plus really, with the exception of the new Casino Royale, most people associate James Bond with silly gadgets that he inevitably destroys thru misadventures...scary adventures, and totally casual sex. Is that the type of image you want people to have in their minds when they think of you? Sure, Bond is FUN, but you want to be portrayed as dependable, reliable, and professional. James Bond is mainly sexy and downright reckless with other people's belongings.

". . . Your Secret Agent for Life" sounds like you're advertising for a wife! laugh (Sorry, but that's exactly what popped into my head, and I thought "Oh, how sweet!")

Like others, I'd focus on the meaning of bond - as something that's solid, committed, dependable . . .

I don't think Kenzie's idea is cheesy, she's trying to brand herself. I like the "special agent".

Kenzie, when you go after a "Brand Slogan", you need to decide and stick with it for the long haul. You need to really think about it really hard before you pull the trigger. A professional opinion is what I would seek. Don't ever leave a business move up to a real estate board full of people you don't know. If you would have went online years ago and told everybody you own a hamburger place and was thinking about having a clown as your spoke person, you would have been laughed offline Ask your friends and relatives. They'll be harsh and honest, but ask anyway. Shoot for a 1st of mind slogan. In the end, it's your call. Go with your gut. BigC

My former principal was all about branding. He had a simple slogan thingy "SOLD!" and used it in a lot of advertising. He said that when he goes in stores and such, occasionally people would point at him and say "sold" - that is great for this business.

You are going to have to tread carefully on this one. As Perky said, not everyone identifies positively with 007. Personally, I think Pierce (the best Bond, IMHO) is finer than frogs hair and could eat crackers in my bed anytime, but I hate the Bond movies.

The concept of Secret Agent does not lend itself to putting confidence in your skills.

I'll give this some thought, and post some ideas again later.

Yes, yes, agreed. (except I love the movies, most of them anyway.)
Ahhh, nothing is finer than Pierce, and that's a fact.

I myself am partial to Roger Moore - I do not know why! But Pierce comes in a close second! Definitely don't care for the latest 007...

Anywho - I totally get that I don't want to come off as cheesy or to "slogany" (if thats even a word) but I am ALWAYS getting some sort of crack about my name whenever I meet someone, be nice to use it to my advantage for once!

I would stay away from "Secret Agent" as my good friend who is an agent had a manager always remind her.... "theres no such thing as a Secret agent"!

I think branding can work. I made my own logo for our team- just our name and photos superimposed together. Eventually we want to redo photos of us together. I have a few agents in my office who use a local tree or monument with history or a interesting story. One woman has a really successful team with a butterfly, and no corny slogan, and they do tremendously well. I think a logo is more important then a slogan, IMHO.

I know this doesn't help much, but my managing broker's slogan is, My Service Will Move You.

I thought it was very clever (corny yes, but I hadn't thought of it so I also thought it was clever).

I know I'm pretty late to this party (sidenote: this is my first post ever on this forum > great resource btw) but I do have a slogan... I don't think it's too cheesy or corny...

Don't Get Sold... Get Educated.

I like it ;)

I believe your slogan either has to be a great one or you are better with none at all. This holds true for both company slogans and personal slogans. Mine is a play on a well-known slogan, but I have personalized it. Now it embodies everything I stand for as a marketer and it guides me every day.

“Good ideas are a dime a dozen, but implementation is priceless!”

When you create a slogan it needs to be believable and people should relate you with the slogan. For example if you chose to use "There's no Secret to my great Service" you would have to regularly wow people with service that is above their expectations and have people talk about it. Your blog is a good example.

There seem to be two kinds of slogans for Realtors; those that differentiate a Realtor and creates a positive impression on the reader and the others that in my opinion state the obvious and do not provide a credible difference.

I wrote a couple of informative posts on my blog which might help you in the process.

1) Creating the Perfect Tagline - http://themarketingguy.wordpress.com/2007/09/27/creating-the-perfect-tagline/

2) Writing a Slogan or Tagline - http://themarketingguy.wordpress.com/2007/07/31/writing-a-slogan-or-tag-line/

Hope these are helpful.
