Dean, I would start by producing a LOT of local content with longtail keywords (very specific keywords for your market.)

Do not just post listings but post local area info...such as highlighting certain sub divisions (one sub division per post). Buyer and seller tips and website of the week are nice once you start getting some established traffic, but they're not going to bring you what you ultimately want - customers. You need to blog about what customers are searching for in your area.

Ask other agents in your office (and your broker) if you can blog about their listings. Do not just copy paste the MLS, write something personally produced about the listing.

You need to decide who you want to attract to your blog and tailor it to them.

I got several listings from my blog because the sellers have LOVED how I showcase my properties - like nobody else does.

Yes I have found success. I have gotten numerous leads, several listings, and my website has benefitted as well. I use both Active Rain and my own Wordpress.com blog.
