I am buying a home that is in the proccess of being remodeled. I have a signed contract with an adendum for the compleated work to be done. Nothing more, and due to close in 3 weeks. The owner of the house( whom is a real estate agent that bought the home as a forclousure and is doing the renovations)has said He has gone over his budget by 10 k because he has done additional work with out my consent and wants me to pay the balance. There is no clause in the contract pertaining to overages. Does he have any right to make me pay? I don't think so.

No, he does not have the right to try to charge you for his miscaculations.

He's just not going to make as much as he thought on this transaction.

That's what I was thinking but I have not had many dealings in the real estate market. I guess he will try to get out of the contract and look for another buyer willing to pay more. Thanks for your input.
