I have a unique situation. . . I'm renting a home in Corpus Christi, TX with the original intent of looking to buy a home of our own no later than March. However, we've fallen in love with the house we're renting and want to buy it. We spoke to the owner about this and he said he is open to the possibility of selling it. We will now be sitting down together (sat.) and discussing the price - I have no idea what he is looking to get for it. Now I'm in sort of state of panick b/c I'm not sure what it's worth really (I'm guessing maybe $200,000 b/c the house next door sold for about 170's and this one's a little nicer). Anyway, what suggestions does anyone have about this? Should I have a realtor present? I don't want to intimidate the owner (he won't be bringing a realtor). Also, I ordered an appraisal yesterday and am hoping to have it by Saturday, however I'm starting to doubt it will be back in time as I ordered it through USAA (our bank) and they said someone would be contacting me (and she put a side-note that I need it by Friday) but haven't heard from anyone yet. I'm open to all your ideas ...
