I noticed a serious slowdown with new assignments for me in July. 80% slower than my usual months. It has picked up for me in August but primarily due to a few new clients.

Anyone else notice a change in number of assignments over the last few months? I'm not talking about BPO assignments, just REOs.

I have- I haven't received any new assignments in three weeks. I am trying to bring on new clients to get out of this slowdown.

I montitor REO's in Orange County and LA County California and here is what's going on:

OC-new REO listings as of 8/1/08 - Present - 455

LA-new REO Listings as of 8/1/08 - Present - 697

OC-new REO listings from 7/1/08-8/1/08 - 599

LA-new REO Listings from 7/1/08-8/1/08 - 849

Interesting stats, LA county is on pace for 1350 REO listings this month. Orange County is on pace for 881, both counties on pace to past last months totals, so NOT really a slowdown in OC OR LA county.

I'm talking about new assignments. REOs take a while from being assigned to an agent to getting listed on MLS. I have been listing and selling them but new assignments slowed down for me in July.

Anyone else want to respond with how new assignments are doing now?

Cali, do you think the slow down your experiencing is because its the calm before the storm, so to speak? Or are you loosing market share to your competitors? I've noticed national companies going after REO business as well, which effects the amount of listing we receive. However I finally received my first BPO from Ocwen after signing up with them 9 months ago, I sure hope I start receiving REO'S from them soon.

I don't know what is happening. Is it me or are more agents seeing the same things? I see some posts talking about the BPOs slowing down and I am interested in how the REO market is going. Maybe companies are re-organizing due to the new laws and we'll get a flood of BPOs and REOs in another month or so? I know the inventory is just going up and up.

Last month we were slow with only 3 new assignments received. This month has started out pretty good with 8 new ones as of today. I don't for see a slow down, anytime soon, but you never know.

Yes I have totally noticed it!! I haven't received a new listing since the 23rd of July. I am getting kind of worried because I am going to close a lot of them in September and will be down to my lowest level in several months.

I usually get a few at the beginning of the month from a few different companies and haven't gotten any. I have been checking with my am's but no one is responding!!

We have slowed as well, almost like a faucet being turned off. Usually average about 4-5 new ones a week and now 3 in the last 3 weeks. Weird because even if it's a recovery sign it would happen gradually. The joke around the office is what did we do to make a dozen companies mad at once.

We got 10 this month, but very few in June and July. Only got 3 or 4 total those months and two ended up being canceled before they were listed. BPOs are incredibly slow....

Interesting the slow down in REO's seems to be in CA, but other areas are still going strong or starting to pick up. Possible some lenders are waiting for the current REO's to get sold and will then start listing another bulk of them so as not saturate the market to heavily in one area or state.
