A little market research for a friend opening a new biz. In this crazy market where we are all involved with more vacant homes, and meeting many of our clients on the internet, what are your thoughts on this topic?

ASSUMING you work in a state where it is permitted to carry a concealed weapon, and you were licensed to do so....

Would you have a gun on the job?

With the goal being that the weapon is Concealed, Secure and Accessible, how do you prefer to carry it?

A.Deep concealment, in a special holster under normal clothing.

B.Light concealment in the pocket of a specially designed vest, jacket or other clothing.

C.Off-body in a purse, planner or briefcase with a special holster compartment.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I look forward to your posts on this forum, or you can email me at Ivana_Trinket@hotmail.com

I am licensed to carry concealed and, though I have listings in some bad parts of a particular city, have chosen to leave the hardware home. I make my checks of the listings in broad daylight, as early in the day as my schedule permits. Cool and/or rainy days are less likely to stir the neighborhood tempers too.

Im considering taking the CC course, i'm not sure I would buy a gun though. I'm not to comfortable having a gun in the house with my kids. No matter how safe I can with it, my son (5) is quite clever and amazing enough has figured out how to get into my locked file cabinet and a locked tool box? He's also removed door knobs to lock his sister in the basement. Im scared he would get his hands on it start shooting the place up.

If I choose to carry one I would go for option B (light concealment).

I would say you need to FIRST use what GOD gave you.

The problem is there is a false sense of security in guns.

Not practiced and used properly ANY weapon can be turned against you.

The people I instruct in self-defense we focus on your body first. There are many place sporting events, concerts, planes, buildings, restaurants, etc. where weapons are not allowed. So you first get proficient with what you use most and work up from there.

If you are going to buy a gun and carry it you should committ to mnay hours a week of training to become one with the weapon. So figure in gun costs, bullets, cleaning, and range time plus buying targets and ear muffs and glasses to see if you have the commitment. If you want to buy one and not truly practice you are wasting your time.

Thank you all for your input. I appreciate your candor. It is a topic not only important to my friend's new business, but also to myself. As a 53 year old woman I own a gun for the first time in my life, and I'm grappling with how and when to have it with me. Recent accusations that we cling to our guns and Bibles inspired me to say "ME TOO".
