News is being released confirming the Treasury and the Feds are stepping to to rescue Fanny and Freddy.

I sure we'll hear more in the morning. I sure they can't allow these two agencies to fail.

It will be an interesting morning for the stock market.

I'm sure we'll see others fail like Indy in the months to come.

The taxpayers need to step up and help these organizations. Without fannie and freddy very few of us agents would have jobs and very few people would own their homes.

People banding together to protect each other is what makes us civilized.

The taxpayers have stepped up to the plate on every government program and they foot the bill for them. The war on povery, the war on crime, or whatever other war they declared that you want to put in there. If we don't pay taxes they can't fund their programs or their salaries, quote it.

Last time I checked, poverty rates have jumped substantially since the 60s and so has the crime rate. The taxpayers have been footing the bill for the government to create these abominal failures. Freddy and Fannie should be allowed to fail just like any small business. The financial institutions should be allowed to fail also. If we support the bail out policy it will only encourage wilder investment and speculation schemes that the taxpayers will be footing the bill for.

I am guessing you don't work in real estate or any related business?

I just cannot get into this one. But, I will say this:

Government Loans - FHA, VA, USDA
Agency Loans - Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac
Portfolio Loans - Privately Held and Non-Agency Backed

There are very few portfolio loans left. They are usually 1-3+% higher interest and not as aggressive. Eliminating Agency profits from the mix would only worsen the pricing and options available on Portfolio Lending.

Hardly any help investors. Fannie and Freddy are really the only 2 remaining viable investor loans for someone wanting to retain a property to generate monthly cash flow outside of 5+ unit multi-family commercial properties.

I'm an REO broker. My last dozen deals were either FHA,VA, or all cash. Do you think wall street will be quick to rush out and buy freddie and fannie loans and bonds after this bill? I think its too much too late. Their credentials are shot even if it is backed by the gov't, IMO.
The system is broke and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.
