Well Watermark; what I see here in your "visual" is an early HYBRID . . . . a cross between a Taurus and an F-250. Kind'a avant garde, aren't you ?

When we were house-shopping 8 years ago, one of the agents we contacted drove up in a BMW. At that point, I knew she'd try to sell us something above our price range - and sure enough - she had a whole list of any number of houses that were well above my price point. Needless to say, she didn't get the sale.

I own a Cadillac Escalade and I love it! It's all black with 20" chrome rims. I made sure I got the model with all of the upgrades and features. I'm thinking about getting a brand new one since I have had this one for about 3 years now.
Regarding the Escalade Hybrid, I can't imagine that being a smart choice. I believe they cost around $80k brand new and I would think the break-even point for the savings on fuel is well over 5 years! It just doesn't seem like a smart investment to me, but to each their own.

That's a great ride for Vegas.
I thought about buying an Escalade (I live in LA), but ended up buying a 2012 Rover (black), and I also powder coated the wheels black, it looks great and I love it. At first I wasn't sure what kind of an image a totally blacked out car would project to clients, but then I decided I didn't care :). It looks sporty and in LA it goes with the territory.
I think when it comes to image, people just have to be themselves, because that's what makes people likable and want to do business with you. IMHO...
edit: not sure why when I do a quote it doesn't work?

Imagine... One of my first listing appointments, I pulled up around the corner in a old, old stick shift Honda Civic. Trust me, you wouldn't take it for free on the side of the road with a giant FREE - TAKE ME sign - old. I got the listing, jumped into my tiny rust bucket and... dead. Not a cough. Nada. Just dead. So embarrassed, I had to walk back to the seller's house and ask for a push (this was before cell phones, you young ones out there). We got a good laugh about it at closing. Yeah, having a nice car is better :))

Yeah, having a nice car is better :)) But some people will use you as an Agent simply because they want to Participate in your Success . . . . not because you've already achieved success.

I think it depends on who you are trying to do business with.
If you pull up to a $800,000 Listing Appointment in a 1989 Caravan, you may find that the client doesn't want to do business with you.
However, if you pull up to a $200,000 Short Sale listing appointment in a 2013 Mustang, the seller may me offended that you are "flaunting" your wealth or success.
It's all about who you want to attract or keep away.
I drive a 2004 Saturn Vue with 170,000 miles on it. It looks fine, and for most people they probably don't even think twice about what I'm driving since it's neither a rust-bucket or a brand new jewel.

Rule of thumb:
Try to drive a car that's worth less than the property you're trying to sell.
Even though that's not always possible.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
