I'm about to go on my first interview with a broker and was wondering if there was anything I need to bring with me. I'm assuming a resume and RE license but don't know what else.

I'd scrap the resume (the broker wants to get a feel for your personality, and chances are your resume is not real estate related anyway) and you don't need to bring your RE License unless you're planning on signing up right there on the spot (which I wouldn't).
Instead - I would bring a list of questions with you.
1) What's the split? does it vary? how does it work? 2) What do you provide as a broker to earn your portion of the split? 3) What do you provide as far as training? 4) What's your availability as a broker (i.e. can I get you on the phone when I need you)? 5) What makes your brokerage different than all the others? 7) Do you provide any materials such as signs, business cards, advertising, website, etc for your agents?
Start with those and expand from there.
Interview at least 5-10 brokers (no, I'm not exaggerating) and ask them all the same questions - TAKE NOTES.
After each interview do some math and figure out what your approximate net would be after splits if you brought in $50,000/year in gross commissions. Then do it again for $75,000 and $100,000. This directly impacts how much money you will take home for the work that you do and can amount to tens of thousands of dollars in income for you.

man from the band is right. We had a mega agent come over from one of the "BIG" brokerages to help start our new office and i think she said she would save about 20k a year.
Remember that they will be basically your employee as much as you you are theirs, so to speak. You're a congtractor and it will be your own business so don't take it lightly and thats why you need to ask questions because you should feel that you are hiring them, you'll be paying them! Feel confident like youre a supervisor interviewing someone who wants to get paid.

I would respectfully re order those questions. Do you have duty calls and walk ins? Do you have agent duty times on a schedule? Does the office recieve referrals and will I be included? Will you be able to OPEN House office listings? Who will pay your announcement cards and ads in the local paper? and mail to your sphere of influence? Will you be available to Mentor me to hone the skills I need to learn? What courses do you recommend for me to learn the trade?
Any or most of these would be of more interest to me than questions about splits where I had no listings, or active prospects.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
