I got my real estate license a few months ago but am now finally ready to find a office to hang my license. I have a few questions though. How did everyone go about finding the office you are working at? I'm assuming you just contact a bunch of offices you are interested in and ask if they are hiring new agents? Secondly, how is the interview process? When I hear people speak of it, it seems like usually the brokers are willing to accept almost anyone and it is up to the agents to decide whether they want to work in that office or not. Just curious because I'm used to the traditional approach where employers have want ads saying they are hiring but it's a little different in the real estate world.

Oh also when you get started, do companies usually make you go through the whole training process before you can do a deal or if you have one lined up can you proceed while training?

Get Dirk Zeller's book, Your First Year in Real Estate, either from the library or buy it. It talks about what type questions to ask, what to look for, etc.

Remember, you are actually interviewing them more than they are interviewing you. They are not "employers" since you will most likely be an independant contractor.

How much training they "make" you go through varies from office to office. However, you need to find out the type and quantity of training each office provides. And, how much it costs.

There is much more, get Zeller's book.

You are right most of the offices are abouy to accept almost anyone, it is upto you to go with this office or not. You are jusy going to begin your business and you will have a lot of expences, so make shure whereever you go to have first, good training and somebody ti give you advise any time, less expenses and you need to feel comfortable in this office.Good luck!!!

Hey cool Agent 415. Are you looking for a broker too? Which ones have you tried? I'm going to my first interview tomorrow with a prudential office. Off topic - Nice shot of the bay bridge in your avatar.

Thanks Viktor. Will keep that in mind.
