My boyfriend and I found the (almost)perfect single family house...the only problem is that it lacks a driveway. We aren't too concerned about parking because there are plenty of spots on the street, but we are worried about how it will impact our ability to sell the house when/if we should decide to do so. Our back up property is a condo that is 800 sq feet smaller but has a garage space. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks! sorry, i forgot to answer your question. your agent should be an expert in advising you on the saleablility of your home in the future. to sell you must be comparable in price and condition to the other homes that are on the market.

It's not clear to me from the original post if the "almost perfect" home is missing just a driveway or a driveway and garage. If other neighborhood homes have both and this one has neither, that will be a problem in selling in the future (unless you can buy it for a much lower price now and are willing to sell it for less than the neighborhing houses in the future). If this one has a garage but no driveway, you can have one poured later.
I'd go for a single family home rather than a condo if I were you (whether this one or a different one).
Your agent sounds like a lazy boob. Get a better agent.

Your house is for you. Do not worry about selling it now. This is something you will deal with later. You never know what you might encounter later on when you sell your home.

How about a driveway that you can't use without a "WorkAround" ? Who said the DPW stopped handing out those Stupid Pills ?
We do have a buyers agent. Unfortunately he is neither proactive nor particularly helpful. My boyfriend and I have done 90% of the legwork. All our agent has done is call the listing agents for the places we want to see and then drives us to see them. On the rare occasions that he has suggested a property for us to see, it is never anything that meets our one non-negotiable criteria (must be .5 miles or less to the MBTA). We can go days without getting a response from him either via email or via phone and he never just checks in with us to see how things are. Most irritatingly though, after seeing a few places that we liked on a saturday and talking about making an offer, he dropped us off and told us that he was taking the next couple of days off to relax and that he would get in touch with us during the week. Basically, if we wanted to make an offer, it was going to have to wait until he was ready. Am I just expecting too much from an agent or is his behavior typical?
It is NOT typical is about all I can say since I am a Realtor and would never bash another agent

When one considers, that we live in a mobile society, a residential property lacking a place to park one’s motor vehicle is certainly less than desirable.
Private driveway: In this instance the term of contract usually inserted in relation to a residential purchase is “and providing for a private drive”
Mutual driveway: In this instance the term of contract usually inserted in relation to a residential purchase is “and providing for a mutual drive.” The downside of a mutual drive, is that in many jurisdictions the courts have ruled that neither of the parties in the residences adjoining a mutual driveway may park and/or obstruct the mutual driveway in anyway.
Parking: With “on street and/or off street parking” change is inevitable and there is no guarantee that the municipality won’t attempt to increase their revenues by ticketing cars for parking violations, including cars parked overnight in front of the owners own home, or respond to a neighbours complaint about your motor vehicle being continuously parked on the street.
Resale value: A residential property without a driveway, that is competing against similar properties with a drive way, will normally require greater marketing time and sell for less than the comparable properties with a driveway.
