Illinois is updating the "act 2000" laws this coming year and we also have a mandatory Ethics class due by this Dec., so I have been researching the process for getting my teaching credentials for CE. This is an on-going chore but I am making headway. the only thing I can not seem to find out is what amount of compensation is paid by boards to CE instructors.... yes I am fully aware we can not discuss money on this or any other forum, however we can share information in "Ranges" so if any one knows the range that instructors earn for a 3 hour class that would give me some information to go on.I am thinking most states are similar?

I assume your board sponsors CE for its members. Have you asked them how much their instructors get paid? I would not be surprised if there was some variation depending on how far they have to travel to teach the program, etc.

Also, here in New York, teaching can earn you credit toward your own CE obligations.

I asked our board staff from the education dept. and she said she could not be at liberty to disclose this information. Since we are a Realtor owned board she said I should ask our directors....Mean while I thought I would post it here again, only looking for the ranges. Not imcluding travel time and expense........

I have an agent in my office who is certified to teach CE classes on certain topics. His main profession is as an Agent, he makes some money through teaching. On occassion he will offer our office the course for a huge discount (5-10 bucks). Once he needed to polish his class and gave it to us for free if we all chipped in for pizza, we did.

He does not not make a living at teaching, just some money. He does enjoy teaching though, and is pretty good at it. Im thinking he told me he makes on a 3 hour course for the board, 10 dollars/per person. After so many people pay then its a per/hour bonus which is equal to min. wage.
