Does anyone know any good canadian sites that give info on how divorce affects your home, taxes, mortgage, etc. ?

I'm interested in learning more, maybe even becoming a specialist, since divorce is so common in society today.

SuzyQ: You may wish to consider the following:

You should be versed on law relating to the Divorce Act, the Family Law Act and Child Custody law.

There in considerable potentional for risk and liability in using bits of information obtained from websites, instead you might consider starting your own reference library of law books and study the printed word (black letter law) on the related issues.

I would also suggest that you do not offer what may be deemed in some circles, to be legal advice, but you may offer to research a particular issue for educational purposes and prepare report on what the law (as published) says in relation the issue in question.

Document all your "Educational Reports" which contains a footnote related to your source of information and a disclaimer (see Important Notice, below)

Further, you are only entitled to provide services that are within the scope of your (proven) training, knowledge, experience and ability.
In addition to the aforemention, you must make full and timely disclosure to your broker and obtain his/her express consent, as the brokerage firm may be at some point, be subject to litigation and may be held liable for any errors and/or omissions and misrepresentations concerning your abilities.

Dispostion of the family home frequently causes problems in a divorce. Custodial parents may want to hang onto the home for the sake of the children. Perhaps one or both spouses can't afford to purchase a similar replacement home. Much depends upon the amount of equity in the home and the ability of each spouse to keep it.

I think you would have a hard time becoming a "divorce agent". IMO homes that come on the market after a divorce are never a great deal because they both need so much more to start over they tend to overprice the listings. That is just what I have seen. You would end up with a collection of stress out sellers.

Divorce sales can be real nightmares. Trying to get a buyer and seller to agree is one thing but trying to get a fighting couple to agree with a buyer can really be an ordeal.

I almost forgot to mention both sellers each have their own lawyer giving them advice on how to screw over the other one. Gotta love to do it.

A great source of information would be a lawyer when discussing what assets are considered Marital property and subject to equitable division.

Very impressed with your use of Youtube. Your channel is outstanding resource for those who like to gather information without reading.
