What do the various symbols mean, especially those without symbols. I cannot find a list anywhere and this computer is a pass down from someone at company who has it set so FORMER OWNER's address book is only one that want's to "CONTACT" Agents online.

Thanks for help.

The symbol beside your name to the left of your post(the default is a smilie face) is supposed to indicate that you are online - and you can choose the symbol that is displayed to convey your current mood. You do that by clicking on the down arrow beside "log out" in the upper right area of the page.

The posting icons, which you choose when writing a post, can be used to help convey the tone and content of a post.

The icons that you place within a post are really emoticons - which are used to convey emotion. Since the intent of written words can be misunderstood when there is no facial expressions or voice inflection to use - emoticons are used. For example, a smilie is often used to convey that the writer is joking or not intending to be critical.

When you use the "Quick Reply" at the bottom of a posting, click "switch to full reply screen" (you can do this after you have started a response without losing what you have typed) and the option to use emoticons will be available. Then you can pick the posting icon as seen on the left and then click the "happy face" in the options bar and it will give you a menu of optional emoticons. and put the code in your post.

Here you can also use the Bold, Italics, color and font to dress up your posting.

Hope that helps everyone, maybe we can get some creative posts to try and read.

You can use keyboard shortcuts (once you have committed them to memory) to insert smilies into posts and replies when using the quick reply screen. It is far easier to click on the "full reply screen" button at the bottom of the quick reply area and from there you can just click on the smilie face icon in the toolbar above the area where you type your reply for a list of emoticons. Just click on the emoticon of your choice - like this
