We have a launched a new site for realtors and owners to list land for sale. I am a Realtor and a forester too. Members get first month free and unlimited listings for only #24.95 per month. I am looking for good ways to get the word to Realtors so any suggestions. The site is only 2-3 months old and is doing pretty well on Google and Yahoo for a new site but it takes a while to get top results as we build inbound links and such. We are top ten on some searches. Should we use double opt-in marketing? Does that make it to Realtors who are main members. Google Adwords has worked some for us but does not seem cost effective yet as some words are very expensive. Our site is at http://www.landincorporated.com if you want to take a look.

No site has page rank in two to threemonths. My site is already bringing fair income and visits double each month.

Plus our page rank is 2 out of 10 in only 2 months, launched early Jan. 08. pretty good in my opinion. At that rate we will be 10 by end of year.

Page rank doesn't have anything to do with whether or not a site could be successful. Personally speaking, it is a ranking system that has really lost the value it once had...

natural1, I know it's obvious, but have you tried contacting local realtors to see if you could personally give them a demo of the site?

Tell me a website that makes money that does not have a PR then tell me how page rank doesn't matter. If page rank didn't matter why would the smart people that created the biggest name on the internet even bother creating it. Or taking away PR as a punishment if it didn't matter. People always say PR doesn't matter and I don't think they have any way to back up that statement. Humans are like sheep and follow the heard.

I believe as your site evolves it will bring in money. You may however need to give two or three months free as you gain more links and increase your page rank.

If in order to make money you need organic (search engine) traffic than PageRank is important. In order to rank high for a keyword you need PageRank. PageRank is a measure of authority gained by getting links to your site from other authority sites. The more authority links you have pointing to your site the more PageRank your site will have.

Having said that you can still have huge traffic without PageRank because the traffic you have chosen to get is not organic, ie RSS subscriber, email subscribers etc.

There are many examples of sites that I know who Google recently slapped with a PageRank downgrade. I personally know one particularly site that went from a 6 - 3 but revenues increased by about 30 % over the last few months, because his traffic was not dependent on pagerank. Advertisers still advertise on his site because he is still getting the "eyeball".

Like you said Paul, PageRank has value but it does not necessarily correlate to earnings and revenues.

Nature, should focus on building traffic via branding,RSS subscribers, email list, ads etc. and not worry about lack of Pagerank. If he can proof the traffic to his site is legit than he has a good chance of getting agents to advertise on his site.

Thanks. We do give one month free. We are building inbound links, using forums, articlea, blogs, etc. Just looking for any new ideas. We are starting targted traffic too.

The website looks good.

But I am unlikely to sign up and pay up front for the following reasons:
1)It is a new site with no proven history, so what am I paying for?
2)There are a lot of free sites that are well know (admitedly not land only).
3) Although I have a lot for sale now, I don't always have lots for say, but on your website I would be paying whether I did or not.

So for me, yoursite would not look, if you change your financial method to commision or referral on sale then please let me know.
