Greetings all,
I am on the commitee that will choose our next MLS provider. We have interviewed all of the companies and have narrowed it down to Paragon, Flex, and Navica. I would love to hear any pros and cons that you have about any of these companies so that we can make and intellegent choice. PLEASE post here or write me with your thoughts.
Thanks a million

Rain,

We use Paragon here in the Boise area, actually the whole SW region of Idaho. I have a love/hate relationship with it. My biggest gripes are how slow it runs. You put in search criteria and hit the search button and go and make some coffee, eat breakfast and come back and the listings you were searching for may have come up, they may not have. It is just slow. It can be faster at times and I think it may have to do with the number of users online at any given time using it. I have addressed my issue with our board to no avail and am learning to live with it. I thought it was only at home so checked around and found that many people in my office were having the same problems.

On the plus side, I really like the new "tax info" feature that we got last month. It shows very, very current tax information and also provides demographics, school info and recent solds comps and other info.

Hi Rain,
We also have Paragon and the accompanying love/hate relationship with it, same as jbt4re above.

So many members in our MLS are griping about it that our MLS Committee is thinking about switching AGAIN, after only moving from Voyager to Paragon about four years ago, and they're surveying us now for input.

I told them NO WAY should we go through the hassle and expense of getting a whole new system because it sounds to me from reading forums around the country that ALL of the systems have pros and cons.

Specifics about Paragon: 1)Yes, it can be slow at times (the stock reason is the supposed huge memory capacity since it is all online); 2)No way to eliminate additional photos when printing out a listing, in any detail; 3)printing glitches overall, including incredible slowness if you have moved onto another search during a saved print job; 4)phantom glitches such as erasing all of your saved searches for prospects (twice now!) with no explanation from tech support; 5) the ocasional tech support guy who tells you it is YOUR fault something went awry; 6) other phantom glitches such as rearranging your "favorites" on the search results page;
Basically, lots of little things that will drive you bonkers.

BUT--it does have some really cool features, like: 1)the tax records-based GeoJet mapping, which is combined with some cool CMA tools; 2)it keeps online records for many more years back than Voyager ever did; 3)huge storage for leads/prospects and saved searches.

In closing, though, I'll always be a little suspect of the system going down with all our prospect info and searches since it IS an online thing. Also, what would happen to all of our info if FNIS were to ever sell Paragon?

So I'd advise keeping all of your prospect info in a separate system as well, such as Outlook.

Hope this helps!

Forget Flex ... They charge a foryune to the members for their own data .. 600+ per year just for the urls of saved searches .. can only use the results on 1 site or pay another 600+ for each additional site you want to use them on ...

Talk about taking biting the hand that's feeding you ... not a big fan

I have the same issues with Paragon. Mainly how slow it can be at times, which is strange because it can be fast at times. That really my only gripe with it, but I haven't had any experience with the others you mentioned. I have had a little bit of experience with Tempo.
