If you get a BPO you don't want, for whatever reason, is it better to officially decline it, or let it get reassigned without responding? I know that some of the BPO companies downgrade your rating if you decline orders, but is not responding to them any better or worse?

I can't say what is best. I've never let one go unanswered if its the auto assign from a company. I've declined quite a few lately because I've already done a BPO on that property. I would think ignoring the assignment would be worse on a rating because it will seem like you don't care.

I agree that ignoring it is not a good thing to do & I would imagine that it will lower your rating with a company. I don't decline many, but when I do I always do so immediately that way they can re-assign it & then I also ask them if it will affect my account negatively. I have never been told yes, & I continue to get plenty of orders to keep me very busy.

Have you ever tried to counter-offer at a higher price? I have read in here that it sometimes works.

Greg I sometimes do it with EML. They will usually pay me $10-$20 more.

BTW don't do it too much because they will just end up telling you not to take orders that you think are not enough $.

I requested, and got, more money on two assignments today, turning down one that was too far for the money. I justified my request to the two different companies on the basis of distance and difficulty of research. I had just completed a BPO in the same territory for yet a third company, and it took me about half a day to do the research, not to mention the drive time. I think asking for more money in such a situation is totally justified.

Ok grasshoppers, here is your lession for tonight. At first I grabbed anything but now I have so many offers I pick and choose. I've started to look at the order, see where the darn subject is at and then figure in my mind is there a problem getting comps for this order. I then look at my current order list and see if I have time to get it done within the required time, then I look at the compensation. After checking out all three of these factors I make a choice to do it or decline it. Now here is the little gem for you to hang on to. Never decline an order for low pay only, there may be times when it's slow and that low pay might look good. I always tell them I'm to busy with the orders I have in que from several companies. If I accept their order I'll need to push back someone elses order and that wouldn't be fair especially seeing the order in que is paying more. By telling them this you are communication to them that your in demand, why? Because you do a good job. This makes them want you even more. I then tell them I could accept the order but either I need more money so it's worth me working above and beyond my current 15 hour day or they need to give me more time to complete the order. Now you've given them a choice, usually they will pay more but then again if they extend the deadline you now have an order that is easy to schedule with the rest of your orders in que.

Welcome back from solitary! I always enjoy your comments. Like you I used to break a leg getting orders quickly. Now I just look at them on my Black Berry and do the same thing.... Think about the location, the comps and the company assigning the work. I was out at dinner tonight and 3 hot orders came over from your good buddies at Evaluation Solutions. I had another margarita, finished eating, came home and typed up a nasty gram to them about not getting paid and not working for free and then went on their website and declined all three orders. The BPO Rat just spit the cheese back out!
