As new agent, I've been trying to get a step ahead with some reading. So far, I've read...

The Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller
Your 1st Year in Real Estate by Dirk Zeller
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

I'm surprised how many agents never pick up a book at my office, so I came here for recommendations. What are your favorites?

Millionaire is pretty good for planning and management but it gets a little repetitive IMO.

'21 Things My broker should have told me', pretty good book.

My favorite, 'Mastering the Art of Selling Real Estate', by Tom Hopkins. All kinds of great stuff in that book. Highly recommend it.

I'm hesitant to recomend this book only because of the title " Success as a Real Estate Agent for Dummies " I bought it because it was written by a well known author Dirk Zeller. It covers absolutely everything a new agent might ask in depth. I seldom hear anything in training that wasn't in that book.

Very thoughtful message, social media is just another medium to connect and engage with consumers.

I like Keller books because they are about the basics. The more years you have in the business I see people straying from the basics. The basics work.

I also like to read alot of Blogs and forums also. There is alot of insight, tips, and ideas out there. Agents love to share their ideas and failures.

Pick up on book any book on being:
1. a For Sale By Owner,
2. How To Buy Your First Home With Or Without A Broker
3. How To Sell Your Home Without A Broker.
4. Any text book called Real Estate Practice (not Principles)

You'll be surprised at what you learn in those consumer books! The entire real estate transaction is spelled out in LAYMAN'S TERMS so that you can get a fast lesson on what customers are thinking, and how you can best help them as an agent.

I thought it was like reading the PLAYBOOK or being in the HUDDLE of the opposing team (the consumer) and seeing all their plays and expectations. The FSBO book, and First Time Buyers book really gave me the confidence to see people right away. Very few consumers were ahead of me on basic knowledge.

As far as READING is concerned... don't be surprised when you find out that 90% of your co-workers have not even read the PURCHASE CONTRACT from A-Z every single word! Your own PURCHASE CONTRACT is a seminar in and of it'self. READERS RULE! You're doing the right thing. Just don't be READIN forever, and quickly get into action. You won't make any money, until you get a customer! Good luck!

The Shift By Gary Keller is a good one... it is different the Millionaire Real Estate Agent and has a lot of information for NOW!

I also like a book called Power Agent by Daryl Davis... easy to read and good ideas although some are maybe a little more aggressive than what I am.

The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino... a classic book

Success Principles by Jack Canfield

I listen to alot of books on CD in the car also... the whole positive in - positive out is so true.... it is really hard to be in a bad mood when you have put the good stuff in and the motivation! Gotta keep going!

Anything by Anthony Robbins, Brain Tracey, Gary Keller, Zig Ziglar, Jack Canfield and the list goes on and on and on... I have a roomful of books... I should start my own library.
