I am sitting here manually scanning yet another agreement of sale that was faxed in, and thinking that there has to be a better way to do this. Does anyone use an Internet fax service to collect offers? What is your experience? Good bad or indifferent? What format is supported? pdf? Do you use an editing program to trim offers before uploading? Which one?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated....

I use a combination of a Fujitsu Scansnap scanner, a full version of Adobe Acrobat and http://www.accessline.com for my online fax. With that combination I receive all of my faxes by pdf, can edit them easily in Adobe Acrobat and if necassary can add to them quickly with the Scansnap which is a no frills document scanner. I have noticed lately that some of the REO agents in my area have removed their fax number from the MLS, so agents are forced to e-mail offers in PDF form. I don't know why agents are so married to their fax machines. A nice clear scanned copy is so much easier to read and saves a lot of paper.

Does anyone use an Internet fax service to collect offers? What is your experience? I've been using efax.com Pro version since I started my business 12 years ago. For $16.95 mo. the Pro version comes with a local fax number. When I get an offer I just save it as a tiff file and send it to the client.

Sybadon, you can use any line that your computer will accept. The internet fax program converts an incoming fax into an email. I use a wireless device for mine.

No. But you can get efax for free. But the number will not be local. It might be in Amarillo, or something.

I use myfax for $10 a month and because they didn't have local number in my area, assigned me a 888 number. Fantastic for when you're on vacation. I was at Disneyland last summer, I was able to have an offer "sent" to me, review it and email it on to my clients and no one knew where I was!

I started wayback with efax…. Then moved to Ureach – which I still love and use due to the notification features. But the best is Kall8. If you haven’t taken advantage of Kall8, the lines are extraordinary – unstoppable caller ID they can reverse the numbers to an address/owner real-time call logs “local” (toll) numbers in cities throughout the US (have an office on both coasts), dropped call campaigns and they even act as fax lines with similar notifications as Ureach…but for $5 month. They are the best portable numbers anywhere, and as a PI, I gotta tell you – these numbers are wicked for sneaky things. The site looks cheesy, but the service is one of the best-kept secrets around. Forward your landline fax into one of the above-services and voila, your fax problems are solved (and since it’s a toll-free number you’re forwarding into, your local landline provider won’t charge you for the usage).

how can you use your aircard to receive faxes? The fax comes over via email-it gets converted. i have sprint aircard, and fax program. when i send fax out it wont work. An aircard doesn't have a dial tone, thats why it won't work. Only internet based fax programs will work.

I have a fax line at http://www.myfax.com You get faxes sent to your e-mail. You can send up to 100 pages per month, and receive up to 200 per month for $10/month. Additional pages have a cost per page of like 10 cents I think. It works great so far. To send a fax you type in the fax#@myfax.com and you attach the PDF files to your e-mail.

http://www.efax.com. Now that you mention it, I think they have a page or MB limit on the free one.

Love efax. I receive all faxes via email and can view and forward them from anywhere on my Blackberry. I'm totally mobile.

packetel.com seems like a good service. You can receive unlimited amount faxes to your e-mail address. You can also have your phone company forward your existing fax number to your new fax/e-mail account. I just signed up. WOuld have given Guzzie credit but he never replied to me. Well check it out at http://www.packetel.com If you like what they offer please sign up and use my promo code: mnvxt30798If I refer a friend to signup, me and the person who signed up will get one month's worth of free credit after he or she signs up*. There is NO LIMIT on how much free credit you can get

Just wondering if any who use the incoming email fax have problems with large attachments coming through? Our purchase agreements can be as many as 30 pages.
Also, is readability ok?

I never had any problems with volume with my Efax Plus. I just wish more agents out here would use email. They are SO behind the times. I hate faxing things. Email is so much faster, and you don't lose any quality at all.

Yeah with packetel.com you can receive unlimited pages and the quality is good. I also hate receiving faxes and wish more agents could learn to convert their paper to pdf format and send via e-mail. Quality is so much better. Sometimes I have received a fax back from a buyers agent. And after having his client fax it back to him with signatures and faxing it back to me. Well, the quality is not that good by then. ................................................ packetel.com seems like a good service. You can receive unlimited amount faxes to your e-mail address. Again, I’ve researched them all and there is no better solution that Kall8, UReach or even CallWave. Email to fax for those technically challenged. Each of the other services only allows you to use certain features of the line they assign to you. Kall8, and Ureach let you use the entire feature set. For example, in UReach, it’s one communication suite. You can view all your email accounts and other Outlook style features online, in addition to the incoming faxes. No page or size limits and you can store about 9 months (about 6000 messages), more if you wanna pay a few more bucks. I like Ureach as a dedicated fax line, because in addition to the email, and phone call notification (you can even have it “chase” you from several contact numbers), you can also get phone call notification of EMAILS from whatever domain you tell it to (or multiple domain names). No matter if a client emails me or faxes while I’m in the field – I receive an instant phone call telling me about it. The suite also acts as a great backup, even if your regular ISP or mobile mail provider is down. Just have your email forwarded to ureach, and it’s a done deal. And the site has never been down, not once, not a single hiccup in the past 7-8 years or so. Customer service with a live person too – not the “the service is so cheap we do not offer live customer service support, please refer to the FAQ” message. So when you subscribe to one of those other services – you really are limited in features. Kinda like signing up for a phone line – which only allows pager use (remember those things?), lol ------------------- Another great tool – ReadNotify / Self-Destruct email. Never hear the lame “I didn’t get your email” excuse again. The service silently and invisibly tracks your email; reverses it to an IP address; and even tracks when/where PDF attachments are opened. And yes, you can send emails that self-destruct after being read. It’s $4 month. Lotsa cool things out there in cyberland

I hate pulling up an old thread....but, I just bought a new computer with Vista 64bit and my previous internet fax service (Accessline) wasn't compatible with Vista. So I'm searching for a new service and wanted to know if there was any new service and if not if anyone had any existing service that they would reccommend and I'd be willing to sign up and hopefully give someone a refferral bonus.

I use FaxMicro. http://faxmicro.com/$4.95/month unlimited incoming faxes. I never use outbound faxing as I scan and e-mail. They send the faxes as PDFs and you can set it up to send to multiple e-mail addresses simultaneously. We use this feature in my office to make sure that no fax is missed if someone is out.

Well I started this thread a while ago, my vote goes to MyFax. Everything I need plus a local # for $10/mo. It's a great deal. Thanks to those who recommended it!

Scott doesn't it eat up alot of your time scanning in the papers.I have the officejet all in one and the scanner works great I just wish it went as fast as the faxes do. No, I use a fujitsu ScanSnap S510 (18ppm one sided or 36ppm two sided) so it's much faster than a fax machine! I also have an HP all in one and this blows it away. Check out this video demo (yes, it really IS this fast!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDJn28AtZCw
