One of my favorite movies is "The Perfect Storm". I would not go on a boat though. I also love the tv show featuring the Crab Fishermen. Would not do it myself, but a good show.

I watch boats on TV, but would not get one one myself.

I'm hooked. It's been hard to find good water. Lanier has been in sad shape.

are you on lanier oldsouth? If so, we are too. We've got 35' under our boat at the moment thankfully but it's down to about 7' to get out of our marina. It's getting skinny since I need about 3.5' of draft minimum- hating this drought!

What kind of boat do you have there?

REODayton...if you don't have a boat you are missing out on one of the best things one can spend their money on- best way to get away from it all while not leaving your own town!

Nope... not on Lanier.. got a 25' that I drag all over the place. We were at Lanier a few months back. Normally hang out at Jackson, Oconee or Sinclair. I have a deep V too so I've been real leery of going into too many unexplored places.

With the recent weather I've been itchin' to take her back out.

MY father in law has one. He takes my wife and kids out on it. I stepped foot on it once (in his driveway on the pulling device).

I've seen my 5 year old in her lifejacket get into the water, I know they are perfectly safe, and the odds of sinkage are slim. I can swim I think, but do not want to test my skills in a real life situation, so I never fo into water that I cannot touch the bottom in (5'11").

I won't let my fears limit the family experience, as Dad does have a boat that is always on the water. I don't like it, but they have a blast on it, so I stay on the shore and entertain myself. I even recently drove 2 hours out of my way to awaoid gettin on a ferry for a 20 minute hop across the river.

I am looking at my boat tied to my dock in my backyard as I write this. I live in a cracker box but it is on a salt water canal that is 2 minutes from an open water sound and the ocean is only a 30 minute leasurly boat ride away.

It is time to pull it out of the water but I don't want to.

Glad to see at least a couple of boaters here. All I can say is the rest of you all are missing one of the best things to "waste" money on and definitely missing some good times! I can't wait for summer to roll back around. Winter boating is fun but can't wait for summer to come back. We pretty much live on our boat in the summers.

I set out crab pots for blue crabs during the summer and fall. Every now and then I will drag a shrimp net.

Yeah, I crab whenever possible...

Being on the water is a great place to be for me...no AM, no QC, no Occ Ck. It's almost like a cleansing feeling to me. I get recharged but its hard work sometimes. Here's one I took out of the pot time before last.

I don't tend to work as hard on my boat- this is about as close to hard work I like to get on my boat:

It was an alaskan king crab...very tasty...especially when you steam them right off the boat on the dock.
