Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice here. I applied with 5online a month ago and they recently responded that they would like to work with me, but as home inspector because they had a high demand for that. These home inspections pay very little and I'm not sure they will see that I do them quick and am reliable.

My question is... does anyone have advice on whether I should continue to do this? My goal is to do BPO's from them and my thought was the inspections would be the first step. Thanks for any help.

My company started out doing the inspections,ya they don't pay much but now we are getting orders right and left from them! I would start doing the inspections for them.Hopefully they will turn into bpos and more orders for you.Good Luck

I started doing the inspections, they are really easy and quick to do. I did turn down the "MLS" they called them. They sent me a batch of orders along with letters for the homeowners asking them to call the mortgage company to work out a deferment on their back payments. The problem was if you couldn't get ahold of the HO, you were supposed to go back up to 3 times and take a picture each time of a copy of the letter taped to the door. NOPE..not gonna do that , so I sent them back and told them not to send me anymore.

They started me out at $10 an inspection. After doing a couple, I decided it was not worth my time and the cost of gas. I told them that I would not do them for less than $25 from now on. They told me that they have plenty of agents in my area who are willing to do them for less than $10, haha. They called me a couple hours later saying that they may be able to negotiate for the $25, but I haven't heard from them since. $10 is ridiculous, I'm sure they will raise their fee if we all stop doing them for a measly 10 bucks.

Do you have to be a broker to do their PIs? I think that there are some non-broker bottom feeders out there who will do $7 PIs.

The last one I did paid $36. I needed to varify occupancy and they asked me to talk with the neighbors to see if anyone lived there. I was kind of leary about doing it but got lucky and it was obvious it was occupied. The form was simple it did ask for a value but no comps.

They also call me at least once a week with orders that are the other end of the state. The rep always reads me a list cities no where near me. They must not have a program to identify zip codes or areas.
