Is there a benefit to having multiple blogs and site?

I am forming a group with a couple other agents in my office. We all have sites and blogs already. I'm thinking if we combined our efforts (blog posts) into one site that would give us better SEO results versus each of us posting on our individual sites.
Pros and cons either way?

Why not do both? Have one central site and blog that everyone contributes to, but also maintain smaller more niche sites that can all provide links to your main site.

I have 15 websites and 3 blogs. It is worth the effort.

I have 350+ domains and 20 sites about real estate. Yes...ranking gone up, more web presence, higher traffic.
Website is the easy part, getting a good strong domain name is the toughest.

I'd be careful about getting too many sites - it's ok if you devote the time for them - if you combine the blogs - start an autoresponder mailing list, collect email addresses on the site by offering a giveaway or free service - then split the leads among your group.

Ya I just relieved that by combing my websites I receive greater SERP and link love. Well worth the effort. Yup agree I have 350 domains and 200 sites....all you need is one good top ranking site and you can use that to link to the rest. Owning domains is like owning properties....location location location! and the good thing about domains, they are cheap and will raise in value as time goes by.

That sure sounds like a good thing to do. You guys together will be able to provide the site with more valuable posts and this will certainly give you better SEO results. Besides, it will make your site more content rich and ultimately bring more traffic on to your site.

If you're going to combine all the agents on to one blog, you will have to set out who "owns" the content. If one of those agents leave, do their posts stay on the blog or do they get deleted off?

I like to channel my efforts into one big site. It is hard to keep the quality up over multiple sites.

I have heard that if you have all your websites with one host that interlinking will have no affect. Is there any truth to that?

I don't think it is automatic. There still is a benefit initially. I personally believe that linking together large numbers of sites on one server just makes it more apparent to Google that there is a link scheme being used and at that point discounting and/or penalties are applied.
Just linking two or three sites that are on the same server probably still works.

Why not do both? Have one central site and blog that everyone contributes to, but also maintain smaller more niche sites that can all provide links to your main site. agreed, that way google will spider each individual website (I would put them each on their own separate domains) and with cross-linking back en forth you will all get traffic increases.

The said blogs better be updated too for it will pose no much use if your support blog ain't listed on SEs index.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
