I'm looking online and looking at my options are far as getting a real estate license. I also work 5 days a week and get off work at 6. My question is, is studying at your own pace sufficient enough to pass the test, and how about those online licensing programs/packages? Do they work?
I'm all new to the process, so it will be great if someone can lead me into programs/courses out there that will be beneficial to meet my goal. If you know a specific program please feel free to post it here, the informative the better. Thanks.

I recommend going to the live classes and not own pace. I went with Anthonys Schools when I got my license and they do both classes and own pace. Talk to them and they will help you out on getting your license. Heres a link. http://www.kaplanprofessionalschools.com/california/

I suppose it really depends on your learning style, but I truly think the vast majority of people get way more out of attending a live class versus online. While the real estate test is not impossible, it is not a piece of cake either. It really requires understanding of concepts, not just memorization of keywords.

Online! I can do a 30 hour class in about 2 hours, as opposed to a live class where you have to suffer through all 1800 minutes for credit.... Finishing up my last 60 hours for my brokers license online right now.

I took the live classes. In Mass, you only need 24 hours to sit for the state exam. The school I went with offered a weekend course where you do 9am-9pm on Sat and Sun. After that your done and you can test. My instructor only kept till 6 the first day and 4:30 the next. I passed the test a week later.

I'm currently taking an online course in LA (90 hours). I've been working on it off and on since I enrolled 12/23. According to their online 'meter' I've completed 64% of the course and with the accompanying book I purchased on ebay for .99, it's been relatively easy. Of course I just finished my BA 12/17/07, having taken the majority of my courses online, so perhaps I'm just used to it

I am overseas and want to prepare to get my license before I move back to the U.S. so I have to prepare on-line. I am not sure if I will move to Northern Virginia or North Carolina, do I study for two diffrent states or are they all similar? What are the costs of the whole process? Thanks.

It really depends on how disciplined you are. I could never take a live class, way to slow and boring. I am taking online classes right now for my CA license and got a couple of exam books from the library to get ready for the test. I study about an hour a day and am making falshcards for review( always works for me).
And online is way cheaper too. $99 for all 3 required classes. what a deal.

I took mine online. Self discipline is required. Colorado has quite a bit of state and general to learn. Turned out to be easier than expected.
Spent 7 full days learning, before passing exams. I would go online, it is a good test for you to see how self motivated you are. That is key in real estate. If you can not do the test on your own, the business might not be for you.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
