Your site is pretty new, isn't it? At least the fact that there is no history at Alexa indicates that it is new. That is most of your problem. For sites targeting competitive commercial keywords - and that includes most real estate keywords - it can take 9 months to a year (even longer for real competitive terms) before a site begins to rank well in Google. It is their way of combating spam and recruiting Adwords customers. All you can do is continue to acquire good links pointing at your site and have patience

Doug is definitely right. While real estate keywords are extremely difficult to get in the top of the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages), the best way to do this is to target detailed (also known as 'long tail') keywords. For example, you don't want to target the keyword 'real estate', for all the power players with the large budgets are at the top of the SERPs. Instead, go for keywords like 'Indiana Real Estate' or even 'South Bend Indiana Real Estate'. Granted, since these keywords are very long tail, they won't get too much traffic, but for the traffic you do get, you will have a high probability of reaching the top of the search engine rankings.

Gotta agree with Perky on this one. That pink and teal practically hurts the eyeballs.

May I suggest you do everything within your power to relate your website to the term "Indiana Real Estate".
You can start by: -Submitting to Directories (I have a list of RE directories, just IM me and I'll email it to you) -Writing articles about Indiana real estate and publishing them on your website. -Write and publishing different RE articles to directories about Indiana real estate (linking to your website) -Acquiring links (don't forget your anchor--"Indiana real estate"!) -Then acquire some more links!! I would actually try to optimize for South Bend Indiana Real Estate, unless you work across the entire state. I suppose you could set up a referral network and try to get referral fees for people looking in other parts of the state, but if you work in South Bend, I would try to rank for that term following all of the suggestions above!

Site design aside, I concur with the long tail idea: Indiana Real Estate will get you many visitors (only if you succeed - which you probably won't), but few leads.
Some other ideas: South Bend IN Real Estate South Bend Indiana Real Estate South Bend Indiana Homes for Sale South Bend Indiana Houses
Or any other combination. You'll find you'll rank pretty quickly if you change it up to any of those and focus on that.

Before you even worry about your SEO, fix your site. Design-wise, it's a complete mess. A website design is like the type of car you drive or the kind of tie you wear. It tells people what kind of guy you are, whether or not you know what you're doing.

Anyone have a current list of directories? I just did this one -- Illinois Real Estate Blogs Looks like a good Pr3 backlink (not nofollow).
Do you think it's is worthwhile to get listed in directories for our real estate blogs?

I agree, the best strategy to start when doing SEO, is go after more specific search terms. They are easier to rank for, and as you build up these terms, you can add to them. This will createa much better SEO portfolio for your site.
When I started I went to the neighborhood level, once I started ranking for my local neighborhoods, I started building links for the "my town" real estate, homes and homes for sale keywords. It took me about 5 months to get to page one, and I believe it's from starting out slow and working my way up.
Good Luck! :)

More unique and original content structured so that Google can see your themes (categories).
Plenty of incoming links from trusted and authority sites in your niche.
