I have a standard point to agent site, I have redone the page titles and keywords and trying to get the main home page to rank better, I found the inside pages around page 5 and 7 of google but never did find my main page yet.
I'm trying to learn seo and stuff, I have spoke with a few here on this forum and you are getting on the first page of google. What can I do?
How is point 2 nls anyway? or should I try some other company. I'm pretty savy on making my website and learning each day.

Thanks

Your site is pretty new, isn't it? At least the fact that there is no history at Alexa indicates that it is new. That is most of your problem.

For sites targeting competitive commercial keywords - and that includes most real estate keywords - it can take 9 months to a year (even longer for real competitive terms) before a site begins to rank well in Google. It is their way of combating spam and recruiting Adwords customers.

All you can do is continue to acquire good links pointing at your site and have patience \:\)

Doug is definitely right. While real estate keywords are extremely difficult to get in the top of the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages), the best way to do this is to target detailed (also known as 'long tail') keywords. For example, you don't want to target the keyword 'real estate', for all the power players with the large budgets are at the top of the SERPs. Instead, go for keywords like 'Indiana Real Estate' or even 'South Bend Indiana Real Estate'. Granted, since these keywords are very long tail, they won't get too much traffic, but for the traffic you do get, you will have a high probability of reaching the top of the search engine rankings.

May I suggest you do everything within your power to relate your website to the term "Indiana Real Estate".

You can start by:
-Submitting to Directories (I have a list of RE directories, just IM me and I'll email it to you)
-Writing articles about Indiana real estate and publishing them on your website.
-Write and publishing different RE articles to directories about Indiana real estate (linking to your website)
-Acquiring links (don't forget your anchor--"Indiana real estate"!)
-Then acquire some more links!!

Nice suggestions Rjacobsen -

Livechatrealtor,

Make sure that the articles you write for your website are unique and that they are different from the ones you send out to article directories. You don't want to have duplicate content all over your site.

You might also want to change your links in your signature so that they are anchor text links e.g. Indiana Real Estate - if you need help doing this, or an explanation, PM me and I'll help you best I can.

You'd probably be best off going after long tail keywords (as mentioned) at first but don't forget to constantly build for your stronger words.

oh, dear...I do NOT like the pink & teal! sorry...

Just make the page background white, with dark blue text for headings and links and it will be a huge improvement.

I would actually try to optimize for South Bend Indiana Real Estate, unless you work across the entire state. I suppose you could set up a referral network and try to get referral fees for people looking in other parts of the state, but if you work in South Bend, I would try to rank for that term following all of the suggestions above!

Site design aside, I concur with the long tail idea: Indiana Real Estate will get you many visitors (only if you succeed - which you probably won't), but few leads.

Some other ideas: South Bend IN Real Estate
South Bend Indiana Real Estate
South Bend Indiana Homes for Sale
South Bend Indiana Houses

Or any other combination. You'll find you'll rank pretty quickly if you change it up to any of those and focus on that.

Before you even worry about your SEO, fix your site. Design-wise, it's a complete mess. A website design is like the type of car you drive or the kind of tie you wear. It tells people what kind of guy you are, whether or not you know what you're doing.

you might want to consider organizing your toolbar. if you didn't know that will make all the difference. right now its all over the place and no one has time to read everything on your toolbar. organization is key. i wasn't converting sales until i organized mine.

Be more specific than that - I have a system I like to call "Collateral Keywords" that I will show you a few examples of below. You want to cater your keywords more in depth. For example:

Bloomingdale New Construction Homes For Sale
Poneto Indiana Homes For Sale
Rochester, IA Real Estate For Sale

I have several MLS areas covered and I can see thousands of 5+ word phrases coming each month per site.

...those words "for sale" are KILLER KEYWORDS!!! People will type that in combination with thousands of different cities and suburbs, subdivisions, even addresses they drive by. You can hit them all by targeting localized cities.

Don't get too ambitious, I've got the south covered, stay up there! :)

Anyone have a current list of directories? I just did this one -- Illinois Real Estate Blogs Looks like a good Pr3 backlink (not nofollow).

Do you think it's is worthwhile to get listed in directories for our real estate blogs?

When starting the backlink building process you can begin with little steps like blog commenting and using forums. You will then also want to start submitting your site to directories on the web. Once you get the hang of this you will want to start your article marketing. Whether you write the articles yourself or outsource them as long as they are unique they can be accepted to social marketing sites. These can all potentially provide you with some amazing backlinks. All you can really do then is repeat the steps all over again and pray the big Google likes you.

I agree, the best strategy to start when doing SEO, is go after more specific search terms. They are easier to rank for, and as you build up these terms, you can add to them. This will createa much better SEO portfolio for your site.

When I started I went to the neighborhood level, once I started ranking for my local neighborhoods, I started building links for the "my town" real estate, homes and homes for sale keywords. It took me about 5 months to get to page one, and I believe it's from starting out slow and working my way up.

Good Luck! :)

I follow the latest in SEO and I am hearing that Google will be looking closely at what else is on your web pages. They may be starting to rank certain webpages higher that have video, photos and even power point (.ppt) embedded within them.

Google wants to offer their users quality conent in addition to textual content.

(hint: start putting video and or more photos on your webpages.)

I have and when I get my next Google bot crawling, it will be interesting to see my new search engine positions.

The new upcoming technology is Video SEO ( VSEO).

Let me know how it goes.. you can start with a company called: www.trafficgeyser.com

Also, if you are blogging, consider a Wordpress theme. Then install the correct plugins like All-in-One Seo, Pingomatic, etc.

I have always had a problem with SEO. I have tons of quality pages out there for my blog but I can't seem to get noticed by Google or attract any links.

If you need quality links, how can you coerce people into linking to you?

Mark,

For one, your blog doesn't have a meta description. Sure, some of the high-authority, well-established blogs with PR6 can get away with that, but starting out you need to make use of all SEO fundamentals. Your link-building could also use some work. I don't want to be nit-picky and be negative, but if you'd like shoot me a PM.

Getting links is like getting Real Estate buyers and Sellers, it is a contact sport..... you will not climb the web latter being passive, you need to get out and ask people to link to you. It's a numbers game the more no's you get the closer you are to a yes.

Are free directories productive for SEO? I have a list of several directories with decent page ranks that do not require links back. Would it be a waste of time to go down the list and submit my website?

Hi Captain21,

Here is my opinion about this question. Submitting your site to directories with decent PR wouldn't hurt your site, but don't expect that it will also help you that much. Yeah acquiring free links is a good idea but the so called "web" has tons and tons of directory websites, only few are acceptable like dmoz, google, etc. submitting to those kind of directory is pretty much enough, might as well build informative/useful content that would attract followers, once you build a strong reputation expect inbound links to be coming from everywhere

Not all links are about juice. A cached link with key word anchor text and accompanying key word text can be used to help point the search engines to your site for the anchor text. This is why you see low PR sites outrank high PR sites for certain terms.

you have to be very patient and pasistent. Another name i will give to the seo game is pasistence and patience. If you don' have them, you can consider using google adwords which is expensive because without them you can't win in the game.

One advice is something I've seen already and that is a danger of being pushed to "Sandbox". If Your web is new and optimized for important phrase, it can get penalized and pushed back for 3-6 months.
