That's how I link things in CraigsList. I don't understand your reply. No follow means that Google and other spiders won't index it back to your site to give you backlink credit, right? Doesn't mean you can't put a link in.

and it does NOT work to simply delete the "no" in their script

You are correct, this precludes the backlink for credits and also to traffic building which was probably their primary motive - why should Finca Ponderosa get the benefit of 35,000,000 monthly visits to Craigs List just because we put a link back to our site - understand better ?

Craigslist is the best. So much traffic its great.

Gringo, I guess I was misunderstanding the original poster. I didn't now he was looking for SEO from the links, just looking to find out how to post hyperlinks with a text title rather than just the plain URL.

Who cares about nofollow if Craiglist traffic turns into sales?

I know a guy who pays $150/mo for a link on a high profile site that's nofollowed. Why? Because that link makes him way over $150/mo, so the investment is well worth it.

I heard Craigslist gets somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 million readers a day. So a link from Craigslist with a nofollow attribute is better than a nolink from Craiglist =)

just checked and CraigsList gets just under 26 million unique visitors per month - not a clue how many pageloads ?

26 million unique visitors could easily translate into 60 million daily users - depending on how long the cookies are good for before they expire and make a returning visitor a "repeat" visitor.

Often the unique visitors is quite a bit lower than the total visitors.

Whether the search engines follow the link or not having that many potential clients a click a way it is all worth it!

I agree. Craigslist is a very good portal. I get a lot of my traffic from there. Does not matter that it assigns nofollow attribute to the link. It generates a real human traffic, and what is more important a targeted traffic. That is why I believe that it is worth a while to use this service.

You need to know some code. a href with tags around it and quotes. This is simple html code. You can learn it on myspace.

To check if your link has a no follow attribute (aside from looking on the code directly which is time consuming) you can use this add ons for Firefox http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html

If the link turns to red that means it has a no follow attribute.

Looks like as of today or yesterday I can't post any links with anchor text as in

Apparently too many spammers are using this to hide ulrs and they're doing away with it. Some other HTML can still be used.

anchor text really doesn't matter on craigs list since it's nofollow tags anyway

I would like to know if anyone in here would be interested in a site that is similar to Craigs list but only real estate related? Realtors and agents are able to create and maintain there own page and have unlimited listings.

sure as long as it's free - and gets traffic. right now craigs list is the best thing going of that type of website. it's the most used and most well known - much like eBay eclipses all other auction sites that may actually function better...

The thing that I don't like about Craigs list is that when you post a listing a day later it is on another page. There is too much updating that needs to be done.

People still find it though - most people are smart enough to scroll back to other pages. Some of my listings that are a week old still get hits - I can tell because it shows up in my website stats that they got to my website from a particular craigs list page.

It is not a good idea to spam craigs list with your listings every day. Once every two-three weeks is enough. If realtors keep spamming craigs list we'll soon see even more crack downs - maybe not allowing us to post anything at all as a realtor.

Craigs has a search feature. I think most folks use as they can place in keywords such as location or home features. It also has a spot for inputing minimum/maximum price range.
