I am contemplating switching brokerages due to the splits & desk fees. When you switch do you stay with the same association? I have one listing that will be up in December & they will not relist & a closing next week. After that I am at zero ready to move on. Anything that I should know before going out to interview? This is my first time switching brokerages.

technically if you leave the listing stays with the current broker, but you can create a simple form and have him sign off to transfer those listings with you

A lot of the big brokerages will release your listings. I have my liscense at a large company and part of their office policy is if you leave you can take your listings with you.

If the listing or sale is pending when you leave, then ofcourse you leave it and they take their cut. Normally this is spelled out in your office policy manual or independant contractor agreement, you should have recieved and signed when you joined the company.

Don't go with the first one that sounds good. Talk to a number of brokers so you have something to compare.

When i decided I wanted to change I talked to all the big companies in my area. Commission splits are not everything. We have a lot of 100% company models in my area right now and a lot of low split, no office fee companies too.
