I've seen many people with catchy names like: Besthomesby_____@yahoo.com, BetterhomesHouston@yahoo.com,etc. Well I have been trying to come up with something original but can't think of anything. I want to be a full service agent and not target only certain clients for example I don’t want one like: besthomesbymark@yahoo.com because that sounds like I only deal with residential. Well here’s a little about me if anyone wants to give me some help. My names Mark Montemayor, I'm 21 yrs. old and I live in Houston, TX. If you have any other questions please let me know. All opinions are welcomed.

Thanks for the advice. I need more creative minds to chime in. I agree that it needs to be something that people will remember however I would also like it to incorporate what I do which is real estate. I also agree with yahoo and other comman domains being unprofeesional but I have no clue on how to make your own web site. Does godaddy do all the web mastering? I'll do more research and figure it all out.
Thanks

The only one I like is taken. TradeMarkRealty.com, I dont really want my last name because it is hard to pronounce and long. I found MarkDeanRealty.com but Im still a little unsure of how it sounds. Dean is my middle name.

I agree with Troy. As someone who does a lot of emailing to clients and vendors, I really appreciate the ones that are related to the person I'm trying to contact. I would use "yourname@something.com.
It's not as though I'm going to contact you out of the blue just because you have a clever email address. If I need to contact a realtor, I have two in mind, one has an email like JohnTurner@yahoo.com and the other has a whole sentence @something I don't remember.com, Turner's getting the call.

I would recommend yournamesells(yourarea)@___.com
I really regret getting a yahoo email address, but I don't want to change it because I've had it for 3.5 years. Hey, at least it isn't AOL :-)

What you need is your own domain that can also become your permanent email address, i.e. "Mike@HoustonMike.com", http://www.HoustonMike.com is available by the way. http://www.MikeSellsHouston.com is also available I like http://www.HoustonMike.com best personally. As a side benefit, if you own your own domain, you can have as many email addresses going to that domain as you want, i.e. Relocation@HoustonMike.com, BuyNow@HoustonMike.com, RealtorMike@HoustonMike.com, etc.

I chose: http://www.MyTradeMarkRealtor.com. How does that sound? I'm still trying to build the site, and being new to this it might take a while. How does the domain name sound, or should I choose a different one?

I like the http://www.MikeSellsHouston.com one, but I may be partial (points to signature line). But it is catchy and memorable. And homes@mikesellshouston.com seems like an easy email.

You need to choose again. http://www.MyTradeMarkRealtor.com is a violation of the use of the ironically, trademarked "Realtor" word. Visit http://www.Realtor.org and type trademark into the search function. You can only use the word "REALTOR" in a URL if it also refer to either you or your company.

WOW. Thanks for the info. I didn't even consider that before I purchased the site. I'll have to choose another domain name.

SEO speaking, I was told that you should have something in your URL referring to the area in which you specialize. A good strategy would be two sites, one that is all about the area in which you work with a blog, area info, business' in the area etc with a "Featured Real Estate Expert section with your contact info. In your contact info you should have a link to whats called a "Business Card" site all about you. Another technique was to have a number in your URL. If I was a consumer looking to buy a home in Houston I would look up "Houston Texas homes under 340,000". You having a number in your URL is supposed to rank you higher than something that doesn't. I think the http://www.yourname.com is bogus because nobody cares about you. Sounds harsh, but they don't know you so why would they remember your name unless it was a memorable name? This kind of URL would work well with your past clients, but I assume that you want to gain new clients from your new site. Name it something that entices them, like http://www.houstonsbestdeals.com which is already taken by an agent. Call that guy and ask him how many deals he receives from the net. That being said, I like Markthatproperty because it has a twist and would be memorable. I also like the trademarkrealtor one, but it could confuse a consumer. The less confusing the better. I am not in SEO and it is all something that I heard from a salesperson trying to close me on a website, but who knows?

Here is one, http://www.CheckMarksProperties.com, this would be a great part of an ad campaign. I thought about http://www.checkmarkproperties.com, but it was taken. Here is the contact info of the guy that owns it. It is parked and has been for a year so you could call and negotiate with the owner. Schaller, Alexander AlexMGS@aol.com 3 Brantwood Lane Stamford, Connecticut 06903 United States (203) 355-0873

I think that their are two great reasons to have your domain name as your e-mail address.
1. People may search your site after getting an e-mail from you. They aren't going to do that with a Yahoo address.
2. The best reason -- you'll always have it (assuming you renew it!) If you use your @century21.com or @remax.com or @yourcurrentisp.com or @yahoo.com and you decide that you don't want to continue that relationship whether you change your ISP or affiliation with an agency -- you'll still be able to recieve e-mails from people in your sphere. You'll never have to change your e-mail address and all those cards that you give out will still be good 10 years from now even if you've changed companies 10 times. That's the same reason that my number on my card is my Mobile number.
For the person that mentioned the Yahoo account they've used for 3.5 years. Still keep the account ... but start using your own domain name as well. In your reply address set it up to use the new domain name and send your clients updates with the new address.
As for the address. If you set it up correctly, you can get info@YourDomain.com, listings@YourDomain.com, or anything@YourDomain.com. Everything sent to any name before the @YourDomainName.com will come to you if set up properly.
Also, don't forget that Caps don't matter in an e-mail address but do make it easier to read.
John@JohnSmithRealty.com looks better than john@johnsmithrealty.com and certainly is easier to read!

Good information. My main problem is creating a good domain name. I'm thinking of MarkThatProperty.com, MyHoustonRealty.com, MarkDeanRealty.com, ????

Why not something like MarkSellsHouston.com. Straight forward and easier to remember.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
