I recently bought another house and I am closing on it December 26th. I am currently renting an apartment and have a lease until March 31st. For me to brake the lease I must pay $1600 (Two months rent).
I asked the property manager if I get that back if the property rents within those two months of me being out. Because basicly It will be getting double rent for those two months. She told me know, even if they rented it the day after I moved I am still not entitled to getting it back.
Isn't this against the law?

Not attorney not legal advise just opinion only:
If you signed a lease you are obligated to the lease terms, does it say anywhere you will be reimbursed if she rents it out? This is why there is a lease she is going to make money one way or another and also for the troubles you breaking the lease early. I would look in the phone book and call a local real estate attorney and find out what your laws are for your state. Good luck let us know what happens

1. Try subleasing till March 31st.

2. Call a real estate attorney. You would be surprised at how easy some leases are to break under the right circumstances.
