I went to an open house for weichert realtors here in Katy TX

I havent had the actual interview yet ..should be arranging that in a couple of weeks

I am pretty impressed by them ..of course this is my first open house at a brokerage and havent even had my first interview yet

They do seem to ..however ...do things like I had planned on doing them.....for the most part like Jennifer Allen s SOI seduction for those of you who know about it..

I will be probably be interviewing with gary greene...keller williams and coldwell banker

I am curious though...for those texas realtors...if you join NAR ...are you automatically with the state and local chaptors
with the total annual being around $350?

at this same open house they introduced me to a different way of doing listing presentations it was interesting....its called the DOORS concept....they customize it for you after getting info from the potential client...thing is that they charge the agent $100 a shot for every one of them they do you for you...when and if it actually closes....

THoughts on this..?

has anyone here been to an open house for weichert?

One thing to keep in mind:

Some Weichert offices are actually independently owned and operated franchises and do things differently than other offices. The way one Weichert office works can, and probably will be, very different from others.

I work in a very supportive Weichert office. I am very glad to be in this office - but I tell you, I chose to work for this office for several reasons - they're successful, they're active, they're forward thinking (meaning, they're not stuck doing things the way it's always been done), and the owners of this office are awesome. The fact that it's a Weichert Franchise has little to do with why I chose to work here - the way the office is RUN is why I choose to work here.

Charging an agent $100 to customize a DOORS presentation is over the top. That sounds like an office down the street that nickels and dimes their agents to death.

I do open houses regularly. Some are succssful, some are stinkers, and one agent has sold two houses and picked up several good leads from open houses. One of the houses she sold was sold the night she was putting the open house signs up - a neighbor said her friend was interested in that house, could they see it then, so she let them in to see it...and they put it under contract before the open house! That's an exception but..

Weichert on the whole is a good company. I would seek out other Weichert offices in the future if I moved - but I would not work there just because it's Weichert; the owners and broker, and the general feel of the office, are more important to me than franchise name.

yes, I have been attending their sales meetings. I don't have the money yet to get my licenses and insurance, but the office manager has been VERY accomodating. But I know this is who I want to hang my license with...

Again, before the brand, better go with the training.

Our office does excellent, one on one training, small group training, and larger group training either with the broker or with the owner/partner...or with one of the more experienced agents. They have an excellent series of DVDs (David Knox) as well as other materials. Plus our office pays for us to have access to Weichert training online - a series of online lessons that are sometimes kind of silly but for the most part very helpful for a new agent.

The office also takes your E & O insurance out of your commissions - $30 / transaction until the policy is covered, if you want it that way.

Plus they encourage the agents to help newbies - for example, this week I am going to take a new agent out with me while I go and measure rooms and take pictures for my new listing and I am going to show her how to put it on the MLS.

The best way to learn about an office, IMHO, is to ask a few of the agents what they like best about the office...and what they dislike.

aside from the DOORS thing....they have the training you mentioned....the online thing and in office training...mentors..available computers copiers..etc.

they also reimburse for conventions and designations or change your commission structure..

any other comments ??

Now, another Weichert office near me has a "shadowing/mentoring" program, but you have to give up some of your commission to the "training agent" - I think it's from every deal that you get help with.

In our office, we just do a pay-it-forward type of thing. You help me, I help you...do this for me and I'll buy you lunch; help me with this land deal and I'll help you with virtual tours...that kind of thing.

It works well.

A recruiter called me today and really gave me alot info on the company. He is going to set up interviews with local offices in my area, so that they can give more specific info. He was so informative and helpful.
