How many of you work w/air cards? Does air cards replace using an internet providor at your home such as bellsouth? I am moving in the next couple of months, need to purchase a new laptop & I am looking into all my options.

They could replace the in-home provider BUT not all air cards are created equal. I have a friend with Sprint who loves hers; my hubby's experience has been mediocre with his.

Check with others who have used aircards from YOUR wireless provider in YOUR coverage area and see how they like the speed.

Verizon Wireless will also try to tell you their National Access plan is a good alternative; I use it for on the road, no other option, but it is SLOW for main internet access. After all, it's a dial-up. MLS takes FOREVER to load, for example.
