I figured the flashing envelope next to "My Stuff" meant I had messages, but apparently it doesn't. Is the envelope supposed to serve any purpose?

Thanks,
Chanda

Yes, it is supposed to mean that you have a private message.

There is a message there - I checked. Click on "My Stuff" - then "My Messages"

Thank you lisaf - I am glad you are enjoying the forum.

When I checked your messages I found that you were indeed correct - you did not have any messages there. After some investigation I have figured out the problem - there is supposed to be a "Welcome" message which you did not receive due to a change made on a recent upgrade.

You may still have the flashing envelope until you do get another private message - so I will send you a PM so you can click on it and get rid of the envelope \:\)

The flashing envelope should be gone now - I believe I managed to delete the invisible PM that was still causing it to flash.

If you are still seeing it - try using the "My Cookies" link at the bottom left of the page - and "Expire Cookies".

I did a bit more deleting - then I logged in as "you" and I too still saw the flashing envelope. I went to the messages page and tried "refreshing" the page a couple of times in my browser and that cleared the flashing envelope. I think if you are still seeing the flashing envelope now that it is because of your browser cache loading a cached copy - try refreshing and if that does not work - try flushing your browser cache.

it's gone! You are like the all-knowing, all-seeing being of this site. Your hat in your avatar is clearly appropriate!

Thanks again.
