Many large brokerages do give floor time leads to agents that are willing to deal with them. I have gotten quite a bit of business from floor time at my company. It all depends on how the company has it set up. It can be a great extra source of leads though.

You get leads by working and building your sphere of influence. Brokers sometimes give leads, but it's not a way to grow your business substantially since it's typically strangers. New agents use open houses for other agents, make new contacts each day, make 2-3 hours of proactive referral calls per day, etc.
The broker's job is to show you how to make money, not just send leads.

In my office the agents are expected to get most of their own leads. Very few come on floor time maybe a couple a year with a once a week floor time and a couple of Saturdays. I find there are better ways to get leads.

I think you are trying to figure out if you will get more leads by working for a small or a big company/office. There is no clear cut answer. The big company has so many more agents however, they have more opportunities as well. Relocation business can be huge depending on your company's connections as well as area. Small companies have fewer opportunities but then less agents to spread them around to.
I can't stress enough how all of your activity will depend on how good you are. Fellow agents are even willing to share opportunities with someone that will do a good job.

I suggest adding your own lead generating "wish list" to your personal web site. This way you are creating the leads and only you are pursuing the buyer.
With 80%+ of the buyers researching the Internet before making contact, you have to capture them at your home page.

No floor time required here; not a huge office and we have an office manager that answers the phones, schedules the showings etc. But, there are rarely any agents in the office so when a call come in, she can not answer the questions because she is not licensed. I get to answer the questions and get the lead!

floortime is a way for an office to have a free secretary to answer the phones. they should be paying you to answer the phones.

Why should any broker give you leads right off the bat?
You won't have the experience to convert them.
What a good broker will do is allow you to get leads once you've received sufficient training and proven you can do good, solid business. Usually, that is after a year or two.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
