I love Jeff Olsons's local business magnet in one of the thread's below.

For businesses that aren't the type to let me advertise in their establishment, I'm going to offer them space on my magnet for a fee but haven't the slightest clue what to charge.

Has anyone done this that can let me in on what they charged?

Take the total cost of the magnets plus distribution costs and divide by the number of advertisers. Done correctly there will be no cost to you and you will get all of the credit.

My office done this with listing presentation folders.

The outside was a nice clean design with the company logo.

On the inside of the folder they sold advertising.

I would price the magnets and figure out how many ads you can get on them. figure out your total cost (postage etc)

I would try to work it out so that you get your ad for free and all of the costs are paid.

I read Jeff's article and had the same idea. I approached about 4 different business' in my city in a suit and a professional looking Power Point pres. All 4 said that they would not get involved. I asked why and they said that they would give the money and never see me again. They also said magnet advertising was a waste of money.

That is when my idea began to take shape... The most powerful, mind boggling, so "I should have thought of that" idea ever soon began to take shape. I will be sharing a step by step guide to duplicating this as soon as I get the funds together for launch and data for the ROI.

We put 5 slightly smaller than business card ads on one side of a dry erase memo board and just split the cost 5 ways. The advantage is not only bulk pricing, but you get 4 additional distribution channels, reaching customers and clients you wouldn't have if you just gave them out on your own.

Distribution is at least as valuable as the marketing piece.
