Ok, I just wanted to see if anyone out there has heard of the company ZipRealty.com and have either worked with them or for them and how it was. I noticed that they have a big market share out here in so cal as far as an internet based company and was wondering how they are across the nation. If anyone has worked for them, I was wanting to know about their commission structure. I heard that it was low and just wanted to find out how low. I mean for the amount of leads that they provide, just wanted see what they are willing to compensate for me closing their deals.

Thanks in advanced and by the way love the site!

It's been discussed in several different threads already. Try the search function and use the keyword: ziprealty

I hired agents that worked for them. They said they spend 95% of their time in front of a computer and a lot of the leads were garbage. If you really enjoy being out with people, I wouldn't go that route. My cousin worked for them in Texas and didn't make it as an agent. I heard they take about 45% of the commission. I am sure it is different in every market though.

I spoke with an agent from Zip recently. He said that all the agents are actually employees, not independent contractors. I'm not sure if that's just the office where he is at, or that's part of the Zip platform.

He also said that they just raised their fees since they just updated a lot of their tech equipment.

Just a little more information for you.

Thanks Sunshineshanon for the info. I think that is across the board. The are all employees that I believe are w2'd.

I have been a W-2 employee before. I have my own business now. I have never worked harder, even though I though I worked real hard in my "past" life.

If you join ZipRealty, it could be just a job - unless you want to use that as a stepping stone to be out on your own someday.

You could also be a buyer's agent under a top producer and "learn" that way, if you that is the reason why you want to join Zip.

I did a co-broke with a ZipRealty agent once. He didn't even know where the street was that his clients wanted to make an offer on. They found the house by my For Sale sign. He had no knowledge of the neighborhood, had no listings in the area.....The agent had no valuable input to the whole deal. Useless.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
