I am looking for some brokers to help me brainstorm on an idea I have for changing the the real estate industry as we know it.
It is a big idea which benefits brokers/agents and most importantly consumers.
The industry is under seige and it is time for professionals to step up and define their future rather then have it dictated by large media conglomorates and special interests.
Please contact me via this board to learn more. Tks.

Broker --
This is a forum to discuss real estate issues. It is not a place to sell your product.
And, by trying to trick people into contacting you to get leads is just plain rude.

Staggart,
I am not selling a product, nor trying to trick anyone into contacting me to get leads. I am looking for people to brainstorm on an idea.
Don't know where your'e coming from with those comments... please explain yourself.

CoolCat,
The FSBO site is up and I'll send you a link.
Regarding this idea, I don't want to post it here for various reasons.... mainly because it is confidential at this point and I don't want main stream real estate providers to learn the business model.
My intent on asking for people to brainstorm is that the concept is so big... everyone is going to have an opinion. And because everyone has an opinion there may be issues and factors that I haven't thought of that are hurdles to implementing the idea.
That's really all I can say on this board and for those who choose to help me brainstorm... you will learn why. Not trying to be criptic.. just cautious.

One more thing I'd like to point out:
Most people on this board don't understand what is happening in the big picture real estate world. They are soley focused on their own interests and are apathetic to bigger issues that effect them.
The industry as a whole is kind of like the Titanic... cruising along merrily as icebergs position themselves down course. Once the hull gets breached there is nothing that can be done about it and passengers will look back and wonder why they didn't see it coming.

broker ---
What bigger issues??
The fact that the industry is hyper-competitive?
That agents continue to push for higher commission splits? Or, that sellers want to cut commissions? That agents want retirement, other sources of income, etc.? That recruiting and retention are challenging>
Or, that technology, particularly internet marketing, is exploding in importance?
None of these issues are new. They have been around, in most cases, for years.
Let me rephase my initial point: When someone has a secret that they are unwilling to articulate it generally means that someone is trying to sell something.

Staggart,
Not those issues.
And it wasn't a point... it was an accusation.. which was uncalled for IMHO.

Broker, I have to agree with Staggart. You really do not want to "brainstorm" or even to discuss other agents opinions that may be issues or factors that you haven't thought of, that might be hurdles in implementing your ideas. You simply are looking for leads and future customers.Do you make your income as an agent or do you sell your "ideas" to the agents that use this forum to discuss real estate issues like Staggart stated earlier? I have had history with you in "discussion" on other posts. You seem to be only interested in furthering your own businesses. This was a PM you sent me after reading a post discussing Homes By Owner websites. Can you tell me what you are paying for your homesbyowner site? is it monthly? was there a setup fee? thks. It is different prices depending on your coverage and population. $349.00 Set up Fee and $349.00 a month for 5 surrounding counties in my zone. It is month to month and taken out the first day of the month. The back end is really impressive. You need about 40 listings to make your site viable then FSBO's will sign up. Getting the first 40 is hard. Would you like to see the back end? I can give you my password if you promise not to change anything. To be honest the reason I asked was that I am creating a competing product. Would you like to see it? almost ready... Cost will be $249/mo. or there abouts.
P.S. Staggart, you never responded to my posts Concerning RE/MAX versus Century 21 etc.

CoolCat,
Contacting you off-board is different then soliciting you in a forum. Our "history" involves a FSBO site I was developing which costs less and does more then the one you were using. Yes I want to further my business interests by selling site territories to Realtors and mortgage lenders to help them generate prospects and buyer agency leads. That's why you have a FSBO site.
I'll go one step further and point out that it is a growing trend for mortgage companies to develop and promote FSBO sites and marketing tactics that promote cutting out the Realtor. Not so with the one I developed.
I make my living selling real estate, developing marketing programs and integrating mortgage lending into real estate firms.
Just because I offer some marketing programs for Realtors doesn't mean I don't want to brainstorm on an idea... I do. Will the idea ultimately benefit me? Probably... and every agent and broker in the US and Canada... as well as consumers. But it's just an idea at this point.
I can tell you with certainty that the real estate industry is poised for major changes that are outside of the control of the brokerage community... but most don't see it.
If I wanted to solict brokers I'd do it in the products for agents section and not subversly.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
