Hey Guys, Just got back from spending the weekend in "Downtown Disney" at a wedding and a friend of mine that lives there said, "The housing market in Florida is the worst in 30 years!" I said, "I'm not surprised, they can't move houses in South Carolina right now either."I told him, I don't see how anyone can sell a house or even get a phone call from 1 picture and 4 lines of description. So I told him, clients want more control of their buying decision and they don't want to drive all over town based on a tiny ad. I said, "Wouldn't it be nice to give your clients more pictures of each listing and get all the facts...before they have to waste their gas?" I told him what I used to promote my business and how I'm using it to help others do the same. Thought I would pass it on this demonstration. http://www.advertisingagency1.com/RealEstateSalesTool.htm With Success! Think how many times your listings on a CD would be past around by your clients' friends and family Yes, it would be "passed" around by friends and family, laughing at the idiot who doesn't know the difference between "passed" and "past." EGADS is there NO PROFESSIONALISM ANYMORE? Doesn't ANYONE know how to spell? Doesn't anyone know simple 5th grade grammar? OMG!! Get out of town, and go back to high school!!!

Perky, you crack me up all over this forum. I can't stand spelling errors on "professional" websites either. My first day in my new office I pointed out to my broker that there was a spelling error on the front page of his website. He was astounded that in two years no one had had the nerve to tell him. I noticed it the first time I saw his site and couldn't wait to tell him!

I have a cat named Persnickety Princess. Maybe that would work for you. I think she hates spelling errors, too.

LOL I get so annoyed by it. It's one thing when you're just jabbering away...run on sentences, sentence fragments, the occasional typo; that's one thing when we're just talking. But when you are PROMOTING YOUR BUSINESS you darn well better be able to write like you at least "past" (ha ha) 10th grade...lol.
I cannot hardly write a formal business letter, advertising copy, handwritten note card, promotional material, or copy in a web site because of my weak writing skills. I have run on sentences, sentence fragments, typo's and grammatical errors in my writing as well. You should see how long it takes for me to write a cover letter to a potential client. I am very insecure with my writing. Informal e-mails or this forum seem to be an exception. I guess with all of the other typos, and abbreviations like: lol, IMHO, and etc. make me feel more comfortable with my lack of knowledge of the written English language and basic grammar. Should I hire a friend of mine, that is a published author, to "ghost write" or edit my upcoming blog site? Is a blog site as forgiving as this forum?

If the blog is going to be for customers, I would at least have someone proofread it for you. A blog does not have to be a brilliant, complicated piece of literature, and some informality in sentence structure is okay too. Basic grammar and spelling should be a priority.
For instance, something like "I myself has seen success" is awful! You don't need to even add "myself". KISS - keep it simple stupid. lol. "I have seen success". Much better.
I tend to write with longer sentences and more words. That is how I am...but IMHO, as long as it makes sense and is spelled correctly, that is the important thing.
A great book to read is Anguished English. Another is Eats, Shoots, & Leaves. Both of them are very entertaining to read and are great for refreshing your grammar skills. They were not written by bland, boring Mrs. VanderHoffen, your 7th grade English teacher. They were written by folks with a great sense of humor and a lot of "tongue in cheek."
Check them out and see if your library has them.

Spelling and punctuation errors are a HUGE turnoff...and they're insulting.
