Verizon has already made the ENORMOUS investment in stringing the Fiber to your curb. The last few feet is nothing. DSL is dependent on making copper do unnatural acts, and the farther you reside from the Central Office, the worse your signal.
Fiber suffers no such degradation, and any limitations on the speed of light that you have are created by Verizon. If Cable folks move in with faster technology, Verizon can just turn up your dial ....
Usually they give you a wireless router, but if they didn't you can get them for about 25 bucks..
