Just wondering if anyone has had their vehicle wrapped, and if so, have you received any leads from it?

I really like the 24/7 advertising as long as it's tastefuly done. Perhaps a partial wrap is the way to go?

I know it can be quite expensive but if you can close one deal because of it, it would be worth the cost.

What do you think?

Let me ask you, what else are you spending marketing money on???

What % of this years marketing budget would this be for you.

I personally think it is a bad idea unless you don't mind always being in the public spot light and have lots of money to throw around.

I know another agent who had it done and says she gets calls from it all the time. I only asked her about it, because it looks awful. I can look up the closed deals on the MLS and frankly, I think she is not telling the truth. Perhaps she is getting calls from it, but not sales.

I enjoy my truck and would never wrap it (or even put a bumper sticker on it). It would be like a tatoo, not a fan of those on my body personally.

SummitNJ: My marketing money goes to a full page glossy ad in one of our local real estate magazines. I've been doing this since it's conception just over one year ago. I have had one listing and four buyers closed because of this ad. This ad runs every three weeks and costs $420 cdn. per issue.

I have a business card size magnet to hand out when I door knock and provide local stats of the area I'm working in.

I also use a brochure "Most Common Home Selling Mistakes" that I print on my own colour lazer printer (very professional).

I have a customized pre-listing cd that I mail to leads prior to the listing appointment which I just started using. I was very impressed with the contents of this cd. I have only had the opportunity to use it a couple of times but have received positive feedback both times. Whether it helps to gain more listings is yet to be seen.

As for the car wrap, I know of one agent in particular who does over 60 deals a year and contributes a fair amount of his business to his wrap. His brand is seen throughout our district and I'm sure people remember his name because of it.

Another agent in our area has a partial wrap with her company logo, her name, and her web site. She's had the wrap for 8 months and said she has already closed 6 deals because of it.

I'm not overly fond of decorating my car with one but if it helps to drive leads to my door than I think I can put up with it.

I would put more of that money into your website and SEO for your website, Not that your website is bad at all, I just think you will see a much bigger return from doing that, then spending the money on a car wrap. I have really cut back on print (Newspaper, Magazine, ...) advertising of every kind since I have found it to not be effective when considering the cost. You may feel differently but what was the rev generated for that $420 every 3 weeks CND? Seems like a really high expenditure for that return.

With my luck I would wrap my car and a week later get into a accident.

Funny story, I had my 4-Runner done, got no leads, no sales, no calls, no nothing. However, a week after I had it done, my car broke down, I looked at the estimate to fix the car, and decided to pay the 1,500 because I didn't want to buy a new car and have it redone (this was before I had really had a chance to have it work). Then a while later my car had more issues, and since I had not had any calls I just bought a new car. Save your money.

Also, someone said something about being in the spotlight...no joke. My husband would drive my car when we went somewhere as a family, and he'd speed, cut people off etc. in my car with my name on the side, that had to be part of the reason I never got leads, I was thought to be a crazy driver, so why would they trust me with the most important asset of their lives?

Improve website, and even direct mailing, newspapers aren't what they used do be, I wouldn't spend too much money there.

This will definately not be the first advertising money you may waste so go for it. If you get a deal or two from it then it paid for itself and it is free advertising once it is paid for.
This not a bad idea if you have a specific car for all your business activities. This works for some agents but not for others so roll the dice and see which category you fall into.

I have a box truck that I park various places around town which has more than paid for itself. I allow buyers or sellers to use the check free for a day and also allow charities to use the truck for the tax write offs. You can also offset cost by selling additional ad space on the truck.
