A new law was signed by our governer on June 15th which requires all home inspectors to carry liability insurance of 100,000 dollar minimum for each occurence at which time you are obtaining a new license or renewing your license. Can someone give me some names of some insurance companies that write this insurance and at a reasonable cost??
Your assistance will be appreciated. This law goes into effect on September 1, 2007.

Thanks,
sivle

Allen Insurance Group and FREA are two of the "largest" insurance providers for Home Inspectors. There are others, but these two have been around for many years.

Both offer GL policies at reasonable prices, especially when purchased in combination with E&O.

Wow, that is great that Texas did that.
I wish they would do that here in Florida.
The home inspectors are only liable up to the cost of the inspection!
And we get some real doozies who have something to prove and they scare away buyers over small things.
Right now there is a bill regarding home inspectors sitting in front of our governor.
Our Realtor association has asked all of us to send him an email now that we want him to sign the bill, it is likely he will veto it. He just vetoed a nail tech bill.
So if you are in Florida, now is your chance to get your voice heard.

Many States do not require Inspectors to be insured. Such is the case here in CA.

Consumers should be informed and they should inquire as to their inspectors' insurance coverage, as well as their experience and education.
