Slammed here... same satellite grrr... so what am I doing? Checking out agentsonline, of course.
That's a good one.
I wonder if the kids at the local school say "If my alpaca was as ugly as you I'd shave it's butt and teach it to walk backwards" ???? Thanks Auburn! I have a gazillion to finish before I go out and do a gazillion more. Have to check in before I go. My husband shaved my Golden Retriever last week. He looks like the alpacha. If I had time I'd post a pic to prove it. I came home and he went and hid in the corner. He knows he's ugly! I quoted Gary cause I have the same darn satelite. Thought my computer was slow. Isn't satelite supposed to be fairly quick?

I had never seen an Alpaca until you posted the photo. But this morning I was driving to a listing and guess what I saw? Yep a whole herd! This was only a few of them. They were all over.

My parents are alpaca ranchers and if you only knew the value in them. I could do BPO's for a year and not make enough to afford one! So they must be good eatin'.

I really don't know the value of them, please enlighten. I did 1223 BPO's last year, would that be enough, or do I really need to step up the pace to be able to get one?
Can you ride em'?
Do they bark?
What kind of cash you get for the fur/wool.
I wonder if my neighbors would mind....

Hope it doesn't get a sunburn -

If I did 1223 BPO's in a year, I know I would NOT be able to afford an alpaca...what with my funeral expenses and all.

Auburn, that is an amazing picture! Thanks for sharing that!
Here in PA, I'm not far from Amish country, and they raise both alpaca and llamas out there in the hinterlands. There is a HUGE difference between the two animals. Alpaca are relatively small, extremely docile, kept in moderate size herds and used strictly for fur. I have never heard of an alpaca killed for meat. Too valuable for that.
But llamas are a different story altogether. They are usually not herded, but single llamas will be mixed in with a herd of cows (or alpaca., or horses). They are MUCH larger than alpacas, and FAR more aggressive. The reason they are placed with other animals is that they are so aggressive that they will hunt down and stomp to death any other predator such as a dog or a fox or a cat. So they protect the herd. A friend of mine almost lost his dog (a chocolate lab - not a small dog) to a llama one time. They are incredibly nasty and ill-tempered. Worse than bulls, even.
Now, to keep this on topic, which BPO company or asset manager or mortgage company reminds you of an alpaca, and which reminds you of a llama? (ha-ha) Any takers on that?
